Hi All

so im booked for a HSG scan on 6th February and I have to say I am DREADING IT. I cant even read about it without going light headed.

So basically at smear tests I nearly or do, pass out. the thought of clamps, pain etc freaks me out.

has anyone get any advice to make the easier or to ease my worry. the closer its getting the more I am worrying about it.

Did you take pain relief first? how long did it actually last? I really need to calm down about this because I know I need it.

any advise please xx

I had one in November. the most uncomfortable bit was the catheter being inserted, but the whole procedure was over in minutes. I took ibuprofen beforehand, but it was just uncomfortable not painful

Thank you! Iv heard some people say it took 45 mins! And I couldn’t cope with that!
Does it really take a few minutes? X

First thing stop googling !
I did and was terrified because all I read was that it was horrible, painful/ worst experience ever.
I was shaking when I got into the room and I hate anything that’s invasive as it makes me feel faint.
It really wasn’t that bad, and if I had to do it again I wouldn’t be worried at all. First bit is like a smear, for me I had a period type pain for about a second and it was done and i had a blocked tube. It wasn’t excruciating and it didn’t make me feel faint. Just breath as their putting the catheter in nice deep breaths in and out and before you know it it’s over. I had a nurse standing right beside me holding my hand aswell, so you might do too. Honestly it’s not bad and I’m the biggest baby going about anything medical. It took about 2 minutes if that. X

@Morpho123 can I ask how this went? I have me HSG booked for Tuesday and follicle tracking scan booked for Friday next week.

Hi, I’m not going to lie I was in quite a lot of pain but my uterus is far back and tilted so they struggled to get the catheter to it, the dye was just a quick sharp pain but was over in a few mins, I had no pain after just a lot during. Take painkillers first and relax, everyone is different so hopefully for you it is pain free xxx

@Morpho123 bless you, not the nicest of experiences at least that is over now. Did they shove you any idea if they were clear? Or could you see the images? Cx
