CCG Funding -help with appeal

Hi,

Can anyone share any advice or guidance on how to appeal a rejection for CCG funding for IVF treatment. The reason for rejection is that as I have not been registered with a GP for 12 months in the local area, I dont qualify. Even though I have lived in the area for over three years. This does not seem fair to me.

Were you registered with a different GP or just not registered at all?

Can you evidence your continuity of address any other way, ie electoral roll?

I was registered at a different GP, however did not use the GP for a significant period of time. In excess of a year. I just didnt change as I was well enough and did not need to visit the GP.

I have evidence of the continuity of address and have shared this with the CCG, but they have still rejected my request.

For them, I would have to be completely unregistered for any GP for 12 months and live in the local area for 12 months. Just living in the area is not enough.

I feel there is an injustice here.

Hi OP is this one of the rare few CCG which offer 2 or 3 cycles of IVF compared to only 1/none?

I suspect if it is they are taking a hard line to prevent neighbouring CCG patients changing GPs to access more cycles - or I could just be really really cynical! 🤣

I agree with PP, it's likely they are doing it to avoid people changing GPs to access more favourable funding, if it's been declined and goes to an IFR then usually the only ones with a chance to be accepted at appeal are those where a patient shows they are clinically exceptional to other patients, so if you are able to display how waiting a further 6-12 months may significantly impact on your chances of success with assisted conception compared to all the other patients
