Currently sat in the waiting room of the fertility clinic waiting to see the Dr about the results of my AMH. Feeling so nervous that he's gunna give me bad news 🥺 TTC #1 for a year now and no sniff of a BFP. OH's tests all came back normal.

Hope your result went ok. Have they only given you that one blood test?

pccolly · 08/01/2020 19:06

How did it go? I had mine also today, but no results until Monday. Follicle count was very low on ultrasound though... one on the right and three on the left. Not expecting good news 😢

@physicskate @pccolly the results were better than I expected Smile my AMH is 11 and according to the dr the result is good for my age (40) she even went as far as saying they were better than average. Just gotta do the HyCoSy now and if everything is normal with that, we have unexplained infertility and she suggested to go straight to IVF.

Ah so pleased for you... I am also 40 and trying to remain hopeful.

pccolly · 08/01/2020 21:39

Do you mind me asking what your follicle count was like on Ultrasound? Now sure if mine is abnormally low for 40 or just normal for age. There was a corpus luteum though and I knew I had ovulated a few days ago

sabtom · 08/01/2020 22:16

Hi @pccolly I'm not sure what my count was, but I've attached my ultrasound results. Again, I was told everything was normal.

Thanks, so it just says follicles present. Which is better than the one lonely one in my right. I’m trying to find out the expected number for someone of 40 so must do some more searching today.

Hi both, I thought I might be able to offer you some hope. I had two IVF cycles a year and a half ago at age 40. My AMH was 10.4 and AFC 12 (8 one side and 4 on the other). Thy first cycle in June failed, so I made a few lifestyle improvements over the 3 months before the the next cycle and now have beautiful 7 month old twins, plus two frozen embryos that we are planning to use this summer.
I wish you both the best of luck with your cycles xxx

@CritterTamer thanks for giving us hope 😊 and congrats on your twins! I'd love to have twins, I've heard that chances of multiples increase with IVF, is that because more than one embryo is put back inside? (I have a lot to research about IVF and how it works 😬) I imagine I'll be starting the "journey" soon 😅 Thanks

@sabtom
I’m exactly the same as you!
We have been diagnosed with ‘unexplained infertility’. A half reassuring, (great nothing is wrong) half disappointing, oh gosh why isn’t anything happening then?! We have done everything any anything to help, from pineapple, acupuncture, mindfulness, vitamins .... all sorts and more! It’s such a strange journey but so glad we aren’t the only ones. It’s so reassuring to read everyone’s stories.
We have been ttc for just over two years now and we have our IVF co-ordination meeting in a few weeks. So nervous!

CritterTamer · 11/01/2020 09:03

@sabtom the chance of a multiple pregnancy is no greater than with a natural pregnancy (about 1%) if you have only one embryo transferred. At 40+ you will probably be offered the chance to have two blasts transferred of you have two of good enough quality, but do think carefully if you do - multiple pregnancies are dangerous. Mine almost cost me my life and the lives of my twins after an obstetric emergency at 34 weeks. The only traffic we are still here to tell the tale is because I happened to be staying overnight in hospital due to other complications. We were very lucky and everything worked out well but it was almost very different, and I will definitely not be having another double transfer in the summer, despite these embryos being slightly lower quality.
