IVF cycle advice

Hi All,
I am a bit confused as to how many IVF cycles are considered safe and what the gap should be between each.
My first privately funded failed cycle was in July/August 19.
I then had a second privately funded failed cycle October/November 19.
I allowed myself December to enjoy myself and indulge in food and drink, and the plan was to then go clean for 3months and try again in April. However, I don’t know if I can wait that long so tempted to try again next month with a NHS funded cycle, and if that fails to go private again in April.

Any advice please?

Hi @Sunshine015 I'm not sure how long is recommended after fresh cycle, but my NHS clinic require at least one 'normal' period (i.e. on period after the failed cycle bleed) between FETs.

Our fresh cycle was in early July and the soonest they could do a FET for us was late November, but that was because they're so busy. I can't see that a 3-month gap for you between stim cycles (Nov to Feb) would be a problem necessarily, but are you sure an NHS clinic could fit you in so quickly as next month?

Sorry that you're 2 first cycles failed – mine too and we're going again in March. It's so hard! Hopefully third time lucky for us both x

How many cycles do you get on the NHS as If you have private before hand they reduce your NHS entitlement accordingly?

Also depends on your protocol? I'm doing natural modified this time and can do 3 cycles in a row but I've chosen to do that as I'm nearly 37 and just want the whole ivf roller coaster over with. If I was younger I'd have a break of 3 months in between to get body in best condition - change diet etc

When I did mild short protocol last year I did egg collection in January and FET in March. Then another cycle in September FET in November

My friends who did long protocol took much longer as they had to wait ages for period to come back etc

@kell2126 thank you for your reply. I really do hope it is third time lucky for us both. I am not sure when the NHS can fit us in but they have said if we can’t get a slot the first month we choose the following month we would get prioritised.

@itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately I haven’t had any frozen embryos. The first cycle was a long protocol and my second was a short protocol. Both times my period has started soon after i got a BFN.
