Evening mumsnetters,

Quick background: I'm 25 and have DD2.5. My partner and i have been having unprotected sex for roughly a year and a half now..

I've been lucky to always have regular light periods up until January this year when they stopped all together.
I went to my doctor in March after 3 missed periods and he asked me to come back in June after I'd missed 6.
Had my next appointment in the August where I had blood tests taken to check my thyroid and hormone levels, my thyroid was fine thankfully however my testosterone level came back as 3.6 (my dr said a normal level is around 2.4)
He requested the bloods to be taken and checked again a few weeks later and I had more or less the same results. I was then referred for a scan on my ovaries.
My period came back in the October, a few weeks later I was due my first smear test. As soon as the nurse touched my cervix's i started to bleed.. she took some extra swaps my doctor asked for (I'm not sure what they were to test for but they have become back clear) I'm still awaiting the results of my smear.
Last Thursday I was up the hospital for the scan on my ovaries, the sonographer could tell me there that my ovaries were all fine, however it looks like I've not been ovulating..
I'm still awaiting the information from the hospital to be sent to my surgery.

And If you're still reading
I guess what I'm here to ask is has anyone else been through something similar? And what can i expect to happen next?
Smile

Hello @SmellBeforeRain

I'm not medically trained but from what you're describing it sounds like you are being tested for Polycystic Ovary Syndrome. Has your GP mentioned this possibility to you?

I have it also, this was confirmed with blood tests and physical symptoms such as acne, weight gain and excess hair.. my ovaries are also clear of cysts too. The diagnostic criteria is two of the three markers. So you can have positive bloods and physical symptoms and no ovarian cysts or vice versa.

Some GP's won't diagnose you unless you have physical cysts...it took me some time to finally get a diagnosis. It was actually the fertility consultant that diagnosed me.

Thanks for your reply @BelleBox19 thanks for sharing your experience, this is something my GP has mentioned to me previously, I do have some acne and hair growth on my back this has been going on for around 4/5 years.
Will have a read of the link you have sent.
Thank you
