Hi I am starting clomid my next cycle. Plan for 3 cycles then IVF referral if unsuccessful. Anyone else due to start clomid or recently started?

Do you have a diagnosis of the underlying problem?.

Why IVF after clomid?. I ask only as its a massive step between these two treatments so what is their reasoning behind this?.

They haven't been able to find any issues and we have been trying for almost 2 years. So he feels this will be the best option.

What tests have been done on both of you to date (anything done over 6 months ago should be discounted). They may have suggested clomid followed by IVF because of them not knowing what the issues actually are and that is not great scenario to be in either.

I am wondering if they are thinking there could be male factor issues; this may well be why IVF has been suggested quite so early on.

Will you be monitored whilst on clomid?. You should be monitored (Via both blood tests and internal ultrasound) whilst on it as clomid is quite powerful stuff (no monitoring is not acceptable as you would then have no real way of knowing whether its working or not).

Hi there @Littlemisssunshine86
I have just started my second cycle of clomid!
Seem to be in a similar position to yours, been trying for nearly 2 years for no obvious reason (irregular periods but no clear PCOS symptoms other than that). Doctor has said to try 3 cycles of clomid and then think about IUI.

My first cycle on clomid went well, I had a scan at day 12 of cycle which showed some follicles had grown (and one big one!). And then was given a trigger shot to make me ovulate at the right time. Took a test that showed I definitely ovulated. But unfortunately AF arrived day 29. But at least I know now my bodies doing all the right things!

Hope things go well with you on your clomid journey x

Oh and had blood test at day 21 which showed a definite ovulation!

Hello @Littlemisssunshine86 I've just started Clomid as well. Our consultant also said 3 months of Clomid and then IVF if it doesn't work as we've been trying 2 years as well.
I'm due to ovulate this week so fingers crossed. What point in your cycle are you?
I hope yours goes well! There is a gigantic thread of people who are on clomid as well, in case that's useful to you.

I'm in a similar boat and start Clomid on. Y next cycle. I've been given a 6 month course then referral back for IVF if no joy. Keeping everything crossed for us all.
