Going private for HyCoSy test

Has anyone had an HyCoSy procedure done privately? Where (in London) would you recommend and how much would it be? I’m at the end of my tether waiting for an NHS appointment and finally after getting through to them on the phone to get told after have to wait after Christmas! I finally have an appointment to see the specialist on the 8th Jan but if I don’t have the test it means I’ll have to book another appointment with the specialist so he can see the results and that could take ages again! So I’m willing to pay to go private so I don’t miss my appointment on the 8th

Will your consultant recognise a non-NHS test? Mine refused to even consider it unless it was done in a reputed hospital by a published consultant who would be willing to write a report for him — I found someone to do that but it cost me nearly £2k.

Most private ivf clinics can arrange one but they do cost in region of £2k

The cost can be around £500 - £600 at some clinics however you may find they will only do them for patients having treatment their

Sad ahhh I guess I'll have to be patient and wait then. If it was just a couple of hundred or so I would've done it. It just seems like a kick in the teeth cause I've already been told that I'm probably not eligible for NHS funding (due to my age and partner's smoking habit Angry) I (and my partner) have had all other tests done and everything came back normal, this is the last test to do and I'm just getting impatient now and wanna know one way or the other so we can either just get on with our lives and or start IVF privately.

Thank you for your replies Smile

Hi I had exactly the same issue a few years back. Went to the Gynaecology Ultrasound Centre on Harley Street. HyCoSy was about £550 2 years ago. They only do scans at that clinic, no fertility treatment. If you want the results explained I think you need to book (and pay for) a separate consultation but we just took the results straight to the fertility clinic a week later. It was carried out by a Gynaecology Consultant who alsoworked at a NHS Hospital (can’t remember her name- sorry!). My NHS clinic had no issue to use the result but I did get told off for wasting my money as it turned out their wait list for HSG wasn’t v long. Was a bit uncomfortable but was otherwise fine. I recommend taking some pain relief before the procedure. Don’t regret having it done privately, didn’t save much time in the grand scheme of things but I felt psychologically that I was moving
forwards at a time where was feeling quite desperate.
