Hi

I got an email from my clinic regarding DE cycles. I’m 40 in July and was worried about how many cycles I would be entitled and got this back..”You would be entitled to 2 more cycles. However, under the criteria for NHS funding further fresh treatment cycles must be initiated by your 40th birthday.”

To cut a long story short, been TTC for 7yrs. 1st IVF long protocol February cycle cancelled after low follicle count and IUI treatment given instead. Meeting with clinic advised DE and found a donor, but donor pulled out & now on a list which could take 12-18mths?

So confused or am I just being stupid 🤷🏼‍♀️

Thanks for reading x

It means you need to have at least started the second remaining cycle of IVF before you turn 40. After 40, you won't be entitled to any further NHS IVF.

Due to the waiting list for donor eggs if I were you I would try a round of fresh starting as soon as you can? You may even get 2 fresh cycles in between now and July. Your very fortunate to get 3 cycles on the NHS

You've got nothing to lose and everything to gain by trying a last time for a biological baby. Every cycle is different so doesn't mean the 2nd and 3rd would produce no follicles. Ask about mild stim or natural ivf instead
