pleas tell me your IVF clinic experiences

We were sent to Guy’s by the NHS and were very fortunate to conceive our first (so far only) by fresh transfer, but have had SO many issues with them since, trying to get pregnant with our second. We’re now considering another full IVF round (having thought we’d never have to do that again with 8 good quality embryos frozen 😢). I’m feeling pretty overwhelmed by all the options, trying to compare success rates and prices etc. We’re in London, I’m 36 and our fertility issue is retrograde ejaculation so ICSI will be required.

Please tell me your experiences of clinics good and bad!

I know it’s not what you asked, but if you’ve got good frozen embryos, why are you thinking about having another full IVF cycle rather than moving the embryos you have frozen from guys to a different clinic?

I went to Barts, has pretty good success rates (3 successful ICSI fresh cycles, one failed FET). We had similar infertility issues except I've got PCOS too. They are pretty slow at admin so you do have to chase them up a lot but once you start your cycle they are on the ball. They are really busy though and it can feel a bit 'cattle market'.

EarlGreyT we had 8 embryos before we started trying for baby no. 2. We only have a few left. I am absolutely planning to move the ones we have, but I’m now expecting to need to do more egg collection.

One of the reasons for wanting to move is on one transfer day we had 2 embryos not survive defrosting and the third (which was transferred, but unsurprisingly perhaps didn’t implant) only had 60% survival. I do appreciate embryos don’t always survive the thaw, but another clinic we went to this told us if that happened there they’d have a full investigation.

This week, that should be.

Twinkledag I wasn’t when I first posted, but am looking abroad now. Husband is from a Western European country with excellent living standards and some of the prices there are a tenth of what they are here! He also regularly travels with work to other countries with good reputations for fertility tourism. Will look up Evewell - thanks.
