Help!! IVF trigger shot tonight, been told to do it into leg not tum

Feeling a bit freaked out....first time IVF....have spent two weeks getting comfortable sticking needles into my belly and had a phone call from nurse earlier to confirm I'm to trigger tonight....and I'm to inject into my thigh.

Thought I would be ok but as the hour draws closer (9pm) I am freaking out. And all the videos of ovitrelle injections are of people shooting it onto their tummies.

If I try injecting this into my leg, is it possible to f**k it up??? I have a fat tum and injections haven't been too painful, scared thigh is going to be awful.

Please someone talk me down!!! 😟

I'm sure all my injections were in my stomach - did you have any guidance sheets at all?

All of my injections were in my thigh. I did IVF last summer... I actually found they hurt less than any stomach injections. You will be fine, I would do as you've been instructed

The product information for Ovitrelle says it should be a subcutaneous injection, so no reason why it can’t be into the belly www.healthline.com/health/subcutaneous-injection

That's why I'm a bit freaked, everything I'm finding online is injections into stomach. But she was quite definite that they want me to do it into my thigh....

Mine was thigh too....they said they prefer the trigger there as its into muscle. I was completely shitting it and it was absolutely fine💛

I seem to recall doing mine into my thigh as well.
I got so panicked about it that I knocked the vial over!
As it was it was fine, but I’m a chunky lass with big thighs.

Thank you yogapants...I just wished the nurse had mentioned it when I was in the clinic this morning, rather than on the phone this afternoon 😕

Pancake at least I don't have to worry about spilling/knocking it over as I have one of the prefilled pens to use.

I have a fat tum but my thoughts aren't very fleshy so just feeling a bit sick now at the thought.

They told me thigh and i was like ‘no way!!!’ even called them before i did it to confirm that i def couldnt do
Tummy!promise Its as easy as your tummy, didnt feel it🙏

I stood up as i felt my
Thigh was a bit ‘looser’ standing than sat down. Gave it a few wiggles too 😂

I’m not a chunky lass, but I way preferred injecting into my thigh - way, way less painful. The skin was a lot less sensitive than that in my tummy. It will be fine!!! Line yourself a treat up to java afterwards.

I had all my injections in my thigh, I would have told you I could never inject myself but I could. You will be ok OP.

Thank you all....kindness and support much appreciated. I haven't been too bad throughout this process so far but am a bit rattled that The Important Injection ends up being back at square one in terms of things I haven't done before. Scared to mess it up, scared I will completely bottle it etc etc
Given the circumstances don't exactly feel I can have a stiff drink beforehand either!

Diabetic here. Lots of people that I know find it easier emotionally to inject in the thigh than the tummy. I also think that you feel it less in your thigh so don't be scared.

Actually when you need to inject sucutaneously, you can do that in your tummy as well (I've also had ivf and did all my injections in my tummy). Just make sure you don't inject close to your navel, stay away for 2 centimeters.

The only difference with tummy versus thigh is that your body absorbs it a little bit quicker when it's your tummy, but for the ivf hormone the subtlety isn't big enough to make a difference.

Don't be scared. If you inject it all subcutaneously you will have done it correctly. If in doubt just do it in your tum

And don't forget: the injection just takes a few seconds, you can do breathing exercises for those few seconds, and then it's all over

Thank you all. Had egg retrieval this morning...5 eggs collected. Currently on sofa. Bit dopey but not currently in any pain....hoping that situation continues. Now just the waiting game to see what we get by way of fertilisation and embryos 🤞
