Hi all
I’m considering having IVF abroad but one of my key concerns is what happens if you experience problems during early pregnancy when you are back in the UK.
For example, one of my best friends had successful IVF treatment abroad. When she was back in the UK she experienced bleeding at 5 weeks. She went to her local NHS hospital and she had to kick up a big fuss to be treated- the doctors initially said that they couldn’t/wouldn’t treat her because she had had IVF abroad.
This sounds odd to me. Surely irrespective of how and where you have gotten pregnant, the NHS should treat you regardless?
If anyone has had IVF abroad and has experienced complications during early pregnancy, I would be really keen to hear your experiences and whether the NHS were happy to treat you as this is the only thing that’s holding my husband and I back from going abroad for our next IVF cycle!
Thank you 🙂
