Hello ladies,
New here and looking for some tips and advice. Just been referred for IVF and have been given a list of 5 clinics to choose from.
Just looking for some opinions on the below and what your thoughts are on the clinics. Good and bad reviews appreciated.
I want to make my mind up by Friday

  • Bourn Hall Clinic - Cambridge
  • London Women's Clinic - Harley Street
  • Create Health Ltd - West Wimbledon
  • Guy's & St Thomas - London
  • The Centre for Reproductive and Genetic Health - London

Thanks ladies xx

Sorry I'm up north so didn't use any of those but what I would say is think about ease of getting there.

There can be a lot of appointments close together and on the day of transfer you often don't know until that day/day before if you're going in.

Our first round I took a lot of time off work but actually I found that more stressful so the second time I fitted appts (except for collection and transfer) around work and that worked well as clinic was only 30-40 mins away.

Best of luck.

Thank you so much @NoNoNoOohmaybe - that has really helped.
Can i just ask you a question, did your OH have to be at all of the appointments? If so will need to work this around both of us. x

Travel time is a good point. If you plan to drive to appointments locations in central London aren't good!

Ease of getting there but also gut feel. I believed wholeheartedly in the team I had to get me pregnant - so to speak- and psychologically I'm sure that helped. I felt comfortable, listened to and that the positivity was encouraging. And in a difficult situation where I felt completely out of control of everything else, I felt safe.

Have heard nothing but good things about all of them - sorry if that's no help!

And good luck with your treatment.

@SageYourResoluteOracle - my gut is going with Bourn Hall in Cambridge but this is 1 hour and 20 mins drive from where i live. I have done a little research on all of the above and this is just the one i feel would be best for me.
Can i ask you a question, sorry i am so new to this. On my form it says Born Hall - Cambridge (Satellite clinics in Wickford and Colchester) - Wickford is 25 minutes from me does this mean i could go for Bourn Hall and ask for Wickford or does it have to be Cambridge as that is the address they have given? x

He didn't have to be but I wanted him there for all of them. I didn't find it an awful process but I did feel very emotionally vulnerable and wanted his support.

However I didn't "like" my clinic in the way the other poster has mentioned. They had very good results and were a lot more local than other options but I didn't feel very well supported emotionally by the staff.

We did 2 rounds and I wouldn't have gone back there if the second round hadn't worked, for various reasons. We probably would have gone abroad.

Hi, first of all good luck with your treatment.

I don't know about the cambridge Bourn Hall, but I can't say anything but amazing things about the Bourn Hall Wymondham (Norwich)

All of the staff are incredible and so supportive and lovely. I had scans with a couple of nurses who had come to Norwich for the day from Cambridge, and they were lovely too.

We had egg Transfer on 14th September and got a BFP 2 weeks later.

If Cambridge is anything like the Norwich Bourn Hall, I would not consider anywhere else.

Hope that helps. Good luck xx

We had a similar (probably identical) list. We went who had the best statistics and on that basis went for CRGH. They were head and shoulders above the rest. Good luck with it all

@LynnieLouLou1980 - thank you so much. We went with bourn hall and realised we have a local one in Wickford that is 25 mins from where I live.
Spoke with a lady on reception and she was just really lovely. My gut was telling to go with bourn hall and at the moment I’m really glad I did.
I hope my process goes as well as my first impressions xx

I know this thread is a bit old, but thought I would try my luck as posting, which clinic did you go with?
