Dermoid Cyst and Fertility

I'm 36 with no children and due to my partners Semen analysis we were told We should consider IVF. I was just going for my initial testing of 21 day blood test and ultrasound so my GP could refer us. The same day as my ultrasound I got called to my GP for results to be told I have what looks like a 8cm Dermoid cyst on my left ovary so I was referred to an oncology gynaecologist who sent me for CA125 test and MRI (the waiting for results is the worst) but luckily it appears to be non cancerous but I could potentially have bilateral Dermoids (one of each ovary) which obviously isn't such good news.

So my question is has anyone else experienced the same issue regarding the cysts? what was your wait time for surgery? What was the outcome of surgery? and also as IVF is so new to me and I know little about it, when I finally get referred what kind of waiting times am I looking at before treatment?

Sorry for the long post I'm new to all this and wanted to give as much info as possible Smile

Hi Melissa,

I had a dermoid cyst, NHS gynae said all okay and referred me to IVF clinic. The IVF clinic did my first scan and referred me back to NHS clinic for it removed before they would start treatment, I'm thinking this was October last year, had the op January this year, started first IVF round in May.

I had one which naturally resolved, so there is hope for that!
