Low progesterone - any other thoughts?

Hi,
I posted a while back about my progesterone. I have more info now but it's not making much sense to me:

  • had a scan which saw a big follicle just before predicted ovulation
  • Clear Blue kit flagged ovulation a couple of days after
  • 7 days after I did the "day 21" test and the progesterone was crazy low, suggesting I didn't ovulate.
  • this month I've been temping and there is a spike in my temperature, suggesting I did ovulate.

So... Any idea what this all means? Have to wait 2 months to see my consultant. Off to a first birthday party today and I think it's just triggered the over thinking in my head.

Is the spike in temperature caused by the progesterone created by the corpus luteum after the egg comes out the follicle? How can I have low progesterone on the blood test and a spike in temp?

what was your day 21 result? did your period arrive when expected? it's possible you had the blood test done on the wrong day.

Thanks for your reoly.
It's was 7.9 and I believe it needs to be at least 30. Last time I was tested it was 10.

My period came two days after the test (I always have short luteal phases). So my cycle was 23 days instead of the 25 days I'd hoped for.
I did the 21 day test 7 days after the day we thought I'd ovulated on the recommendation of the nurse, because I've got short cycles it's hard to know which day is best. But maybe it should be 7 days before the period? If that's the case I don't think I'll ever pin it down cos one month it's 23 days, the next it's 27, mostly 25 days. It's so confusing! Unless I blood test every day during that time - there's online forth life blood tests for £30 I could try for one month just to understand what's going on in there.

Can you just take progesterone? Sorry to be totally thick! I don’t think it can do any damage though?
I have a short luteal phase and was told that my low progesterone can be caused be stress. I was about to start ivf and was going to take progesterone until 12 weeks...but have just fallen pregnant naturally.

I don't think so, I used to take Provera, years ago, but I think it's not good for pregnancy.
I'm fairly certain I am ovulating from looking at my temps. I've seen people talking about progesterone suppositories and creams so will ask the consultant about that and have another progesterone test this month just in case things have changed, you never know. I've been doing reflexology and yoga and don't feel stressed, but maybe I am!
That's amazing news that it happened naturally for you with the short luteal phase. It gives me hope! I wish you a healthy and happy pregnancy :-)
