Hi all,
Im 35, self funding IVF and have very low amh, and we have had 3 IUIs and now had our first IVF. I previously responded very well to the lowest dose of menopaur 75ml a day, had 4 follicles for IUI but didnt get pregnant, I was already ovulating during procedure which was disappointing.
For our first IVF our doctor put us on the highest dose of gonal f 450iu a day, we felt quite uncomfortable with this as blasting your follicles can create abnormalities and push them too hard. But doctor said to go ahead with this, during our cycle until day 7 of stimms I was not monitored no blood test nothing , day 7 had our scan she saw only 2 follicles, we asked the nurse about cancellation as we didnt think it was going well, she dismissed us completely and put her head down, and said it depends on the person. So we waited next scan and we had a lead follicle by day 12 it was 21mm one at 15mm and the rest 9mm. She said we are going ahead with IVF and we said but it's a poor response and she said we may never get the chance again. This was disheartening. We had to ask for a blood test that day, we were not happy , she took our blood and said to go ahead and trigger 2 days later , that means our lead follicle would have been about 25mm trigger day!!!she called later that day after scans bloods and said to go ahead and trigger 2 days later all fine with the bloods. They didnt email me my blood results which they usually do, I had to wait till 3 days later which was a working day to ask for our blood results and asked for it 2 times, they finally sent it and my Estrogen was only 320pu/l and LH 2.3 for me that is very low and cycle should have been cancelled. It was too late as I took trigger over the weekend.
Had our egg retrieval and the eggs did not survive fertilisation they were abnormal as I predicted. I'm really fuming as we paid alot for this cycle and it felt so wasted without any real monitoring, blood works etc and my blood results should have indicated cancellation .
I think a high dose is always the worse way to start and I just want to know can I complain to the clinic and ask for partial refund as we were not even given the option to cancel earlier in the cycle. We have already paid for 3 cycles upfront.
