Advise on prednisone during ivf

Just wandering if anyone’s been on prednisone during ivf /Fet and if so, at what point in the cycle did you start and stop?

I am currently going through an fet and have transfer next week. I have been given a 5 day course of prednisone to clear up my eczema (unrelated to ivf) and I’m worrying a bit that the medicine will affect things, especially as I have to stop it right before transfer but I know some ladies are prescribed it to help with their treatment so just wondering what your experiences were!

I take mine as part of ivf treatment - 2 x 5mg per day - usually from ovulation and then depends on whether get a BFP or BFN - if BFP continue until 12 weeks

Hi @Piper51 - I took 5mg once a day from day 1 of the cycle to 12 weeks.

I read loads about it and doctors are really undecided as to whether it's effective or not - what I took away from my (obsessive!) research is that it's extremely unlikely to harm, but possibly will help, so there's nothing to lose by trying it.

Given that your circumstances are different (you're not being prescribed it as part of your IVF protocol) I think you have nothing to worry about, go ahead as planned/advised, and I wish you lots of luck!

That’s really helpful, thank you for the advice! Will carry on as planned and not worry too much. It does have some nasty side effects I’m figuring out but luckily my course is finished tomorrow!
