Delayed ovulation after laparoscopy / hysteroscopy

Hi I'm due to ovulate today according to my app, and It's usually spot on, but I've done an ovulation test the last few days and no hint of a positive yet.

I had a laparoscopy (just diagnostic - nothing removed) and hysteroscopy with a polypectomy 5 days ago. I really don't want to miss a month of TTC so was going to at least try and have sex today.

Just wondering if anyone knows if ovulation can be delayed after surgery? I can't seem to find much on Google. Does anyone have experience of this happening to them?

ANY change can delay ovulation... so surgery counts.

Mine was delayed about a week the month after surgery. but I did still ovulate.

If you've had a hysteroscopy you're not allowed to have a bath or ex for 7 days afterwards due to the risk of infection. Don't risk an infection wait a bit longer.

No one actually told me that but I didn’t feel like sex till at least 7 days later!

Thanks all. I ovulated 2 days late. I had sex last night (6 days after op). It wasn't ideal but I was desperate to not miss a month. Hopefully it's fine...

You are a better woman than me!!

Just don’t be too disappointed if this month isn’t this month. Your body has been through an operation it’s probably not ideal conception conditions

I was possibly the least sexy sex we've ever had (and that's saying something after TTC for so long). My poor husband was a bit traumatised! To be honest I'm don't get as disappointed these days when it's a BFN. Unless it's an IVF cycle. I just expect it. I couldn't not try though.

I kind of know what you mean.

I still have a couple of days of feeling sad but getting more used to the disappointment.

Wonder if you can help me. I'm due to go for a diagnostic hysteroscopy on the 14th October 2019 and by my count I'll be CD26 of a 28-30day cycle. We are off to South Africa 4 days later. Do you guys think that this will delay my period or as I've read that bleeding is associated with hysto will that make it early.

Ideally I could do with it being delayed a bit so that we can be back in the country for ovulation as I start a new treatment.

Guess just don't know what to expect and worrying that it'll scupper another month on a very expensive treatment. Also slightly worried about infections.

Hi - I don't have a proper answer sorry, but I can tell you what happened with me. After my lap / hysteroscopy I ovulated 2 days late but then got my period 2 days early, so it definitely messed things up a bit that month. Hopefully it's back to normal this month. Good luck with everything.

@Ultra26 I'm not sure about your situation, but I had a hysteroscopy with polypectomy (MyoSure procedure) and my period came 5 days early that cycle. The following cycle was 5 days late and I did ovulate later than normal in that next cycle (I know from temping). You never know, your cycle might be fine, but mine was definitely disrupted.
