Should I wait to start Clomid?

Hi all!

I have a HSG booked in for next Tuesday (I'm currently on CD4 of a natural cycle), and if everything is clear, the fertility specialist said I can start provera and clomid. She has given me the prescription for both already.

She told me to call up for the results of my HSG 2 weeks after I've had it done, but I know many people on here get told the results on the day by the person doing the HSG. My question is, if (fingers crossed) my results are fine and my tubes are clear, and they tell me on the day, can I then start taking my provera that day or do you think it is best to wait until I've had a longer gap between my periods?

If I start it on the same day as my HSG, I would be due on 19 days after my last period but I'm not sure if this would be bad for my endometrium?

Don't mean to jump the gun but anymore waiting is killing me!

Hi @LaurenN23 I had my hsg in June and my cycle was a few days shorter than usual and my period was quite light.

Personally I'd wait until my next cycle to try clomid to give it the best chance of working. Don't you need to take clomid early in in your cycle anyway, so would you have already missed the optimum time to take it?

Good luck 🤞

@VenusStarr Ah okay! well I don't have regular periods at all, I have been prescribed Provera to take first before starting on Clomid so I was more so asking if it would be okay to start Provera as soon as my HSG has been done, meaning I would come on around 19 days after my last period was finished. I will then start Clomid on that cycle.

I just want to know if my womb lining will still be okay if I only have 19 days between bleeds :)
