Prof Robert Winston Q&A

Great Q&A with the granddaddy of IVF, Robert Winston.

He answers lots of infertility questions directly and honestly. Having read his Genesis Research Institute website, it's made me much more informed and has helped me to push for further essential tests.

Hope you find this useful! x

Just watched it, slightly depressing but interesting.

ZenThoughts · 07/09/2019 20:52

Hey @FingersXssd83 what tests are you having as a result?

FingersXssd83 · 08/09/2019 20:01

Hi @ZenThoughts I'm having a lap and dye, hysteroscopy, immunes, and re-doing my hormones. We are in the unexplained camp and feel that we have been rushed into IVF so we're taking his advice to tell and find a diagnosis.

Our three transfers have failed so it was encouraging to hear him say that only after 3-4 cycles are you likely to get to a 50:50 chance so I guess we just need to carry on! Really like his data driven and no BS approach.

Hope you got something from it x

Interesting to read his Q&A and general scepticism about supplements and add ons.

Despite being medical and having critically appraised lots of the fertility studies, I was about to suggest to my husband that we tried Embryoglue for our FET...... but now Prof Winston has knocked some sense back into me

FingersXssd83 · 09/09/2019 20:29

Yes I know what you mean @Anaesthetist83 Told myself I wasn't going to buy into any of the unproven add ons and a bit further down the line I'm looking at embryoglue, scratch and intralipids!

Would love to be under Prof Winston's care. Definitely prefer honesty over bluff (although some hope is definitely helpful in this process!).

My own consultant basically told me not to bother either...... but it’s hard to remain so rational in this process

What an interesting website! I love the Q&A. Thanks for sharing.

A nice man. But God he can be a Debbie downer when it comes to infertility.
