Hi all I'm new to these forums and feeling the pressure of the waiting for ivf. My DH has been diagnosed with azoospermia. We have had all of the initial tests (FSH/LH/HSG) are now waiting for an appointment at the fertility clinic in October. This is the appointment for signing paperwork and consent forms etc. But I'm wondering, when will he be scheduled for microtese surgery? Is it normally quite soon after the consent form appointment? Or are we in for several months of waiting

Hi, we have been through a similar process and the waiting is horrible isn't it! DH had the initial tests around December 2018, we then signed the consent forms early February this year, and his micro tese is actually booked in for tomorrow (eeek!) so from the consent forms to op it was 7 months. The clinic said that where we are (Complete Fertility in Southampton) there is a long wait for the micro tese but no wait for IVF so I'm hoping if the op is a success we can start IVF pretty soon. Hopefully the wait list isn't as long for you x

Thanks for your reply DaisyLeoni. Yes it is the waiting which is horrible..a constant feeling of being in limbo. I really hope that we don't have to wait too long. Hoping that all goes well for you tomorrow and that good news awaits you xx

We are in the same position, waiting on our next appointment in October too! They've put my husband on clomid until then to see if it helps, and then they'll schedule the procedure if there hasn't been an improvement by then.

It will really vary from clinic to clinic, some clinics would arrange it within a couple of weeks providing he has had screening bloods and hasn't travelled to any zika affected countries

Thanks to both. Yes all screening bloods complete and no travel to Zika affected countries. DH is taking Wellman but hasn't been prescribed clinic. It is reassuring to know we are not the only ones. It feels like that sometimes! Hope all goes well for you!

Any news, any of you? Watching this with interest as my DH has azoospermia. Clomid was never mentioned to us when going through icsi. We had our (only) baby following surgical retrieval and ICSI. She has just started reception year at school! Subsequent cycles didn't have the same happy result.

It's hard to remember exact timing but we had our initial consultation in August and then op scheduled for January. (Delay because of Christmas I think, and as it turned out it had to be postponed until Feb because he wasn't well). Then I started treatment in March!

The op was amazingly a success and they retrieved 4 vials! The clinic have been great and booked us in for our first IVF appointment to get the ball rolling in early October! Hopefully that gives some reassurance to people that it looks like even if there is a wait for the op things seem to move quite quickly afterwards
