Supplements to support IVF

Hello,

I've been reading posts for a while on here and I've finally plucked up the courage to begin my own.

We have been TTC for over 18 months now and I've been seeing a gynecologist for the last 6 months. We've recently found out that I have extremely high FSH and extremely low AMH which is heartbreaking as I'm only 31. We've been offered IVF on the NHS but she's made it clear that it might not work. I did have a scan and I had 3 antral follicles in one ovary but nothing in the other.

I'm hoping to start IVF in the next month or so due to my circumstances. Is there anything that I can do to improve my chances? Such as taking supplements? I'm currently taking Zita West Vitafem and Omega 3 fish oil. I'm also starting acupuncture next week.

Thanks very much in advance

DHEA is supposed to help when you have a low follicle count - you can only buy online though

But most of their supplements like DHEA need at least 3 months to take effect as that how long it takes for follicles to grow so unless you delay your cycle I don't think it will have time work

Read "it starts with the egg" it's a great evidence based resource.

Thanks @itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted and @AliceAbsolum. I ordered 'It starts with the egg' earlier today as I'd heard good things about it. I've also ordered Ubiquinol as I've heard that it's good for improving egg quality. Definitely want to try DHEA but I'm going to check with the clinic beforehand just to make sure that I'm safe to take it xxx

Yes, ubiquinol may be supportive, and a form that is water and fat-soluble absorbs better. Yes, double check with the clinic on all supplements, including DHEA which is a hormone.

I used Zita West vitamins when I was going through IVF. I had the same issues as you but I was 36 when I started treatment.

I had acupuncture every week for three months, no caffeine, no alcohol for three months prior to starting. I'd delay if I was you to give it the best chance.

My DD is now 12 after our final round (No3) worked. Smile

Thanks so much @ckc45d10 and it's really good to hear a positive story @WonkyCatissad218. I have my first appointment at the IVF clinic in two weeks so it might be another month or so before I start treatment. I've just finished reading 'It starts with the egg' and it's given me lots of advice although it's made me think twice about all of my plastic food storage containers! xxx
