norethisterone before Clomid - feeling awful!

Hi everyone, has anyone taken norethisterone to start a bleed before starting Clomid ??

The doctor said there would be no side effects from taking Norethisterone, but my god it's effecting my mood. I feel so low, angry and on the edge of a huge breakdown over something really pathetic!! I'm on day 4 of 7! I know I need to keep taking them as I really want to start Clomid and feel if I stop now i won't have a withdrawal bleed.

Just wondered if anyone else had suffered like this from Norethsterone? It's making me so depressed and it's really not like me

Do you normally get periods?

Norethisterone is a progestogen (biologically similar to progesterone) which is what causes pms symptoms. So if you aren't used to getting pms (or even if you are), it's like raging by pms.

I have very irregular periods. Never really suffered with PMS but boy it's hit me hard on these tablets!

@Helena112 yes I had to take it before IVF and it was by far the worst of the meds I had to take! Made me so grumpy! You're nearly there though - 3 more days to go and you'll be done xx

I also found the same. I was hideously hormonal. Cried solidly for 3 days. The IVF drugs were nothing compared to those.

Stick with it though, it doesn’t last too long.

Hi Helena, yep I have Nothisterone (can never spell the damn evil thing ) everyone they need me to bleed. Makes me a grumpy bugger I'll tell you! Currently in The two week wait ... (This is also making me a grumpy bugger, maybe this is now me?! Lol) But I'm thinking if this doesn't work it'll be notheristeone again in a few weeks!

It's a couple of decades ago for me now but norethisterone turned me into a murderous, hormonal bitch from hell

Fingers crossed, sending lots of baby dust your way xxx I'm not sure i could taken another hit of norethisterone never mind my poor husband I might have to ask the consultant for another option haha. It will be all worth it in the end!! (If I haven't killed anyone in the meantime!!)
