Recovery from laparoscopy?

I’m having a laparoscopy and hysteroscopy next month before we do IVF. Unfortunately due to forthcoming holidays and my cycle, it’s timed for a week that my husband will be in the States for work.

I’m not worried about coping on my own - I will be staying overnight & my best friend is available to pick me up and drop me home in a taxi the next day. If it’s relevant it’s being done privately, not NHS. Am I being unrealistic in thinking that with a bit of pre-planning, there’s no reason I won’t be fine for 3 nights by myself? (We are foreign so no family here). What’s the usual recovery like for a laparoscopy?

So an update:

Second cycle after lap. First cycle was about 30 days which seemed long (usual cycle 26 days).

This cycle I am at day 36 without a proper period. On days 30 and 31 I got a tiny bit of spotting each day (not to be too graphic but wiped a little bit of blood once each day). I was just starting to think maybe that could have been implantation bleeding and then I just have had more blood. Haven’t tested as didn’t want to jinx it 😟

WTAF is going on and I feel like I will never fucking get pregnant. Total waste of time trying 😢

Oh no, I'm so sorry. It's not fair how our hopes go up just to be dashed every month. I'm sorry this wasn't the month for you.
Looks like it might take a couple of cycles to calm down?
I've just bought one or those Ovusense things to see if I'm ovulating. Just chucking money down the drain to try to feel a bit more in control of it all.
Is it a normal period or heavier or lighter?

Thanks @Sylva123

It’s just all a bit weird - was a bit gushy/clotty last night 🤢. But now quite light. I have no idea what my body is up to, I feel like it tricks me every month.

Also no cramps. Lower back pain but no cramps (which was not what I’m used to).

How is the Ovusense thing. My cycle is so fucked up at the moment I am struggling to pinpoint ovulation.

Sylva123 · 09/10/2019 08:29

Yes I bought it in the hope it might confirm ovulation because the progesterone tests suggest it's not happening - or im testing on the wrong day. It's the first month trying it so not sure yet but I prefer it to taking my temperature in the morning because I always get up at different times and often forgot to do it. I'll let you know.
My first period after the op was the same - heavy on day one with clots and then light. They do say it's a major operation so I guess our bodies are still making sense of it all and it might take a couple of cycles to get a pattern. It's another waiting game!

Hi all, I have just had a laparoscopy yesterday to remove a cyst. Actually feeling ok except for the wounds. I have been wondering about they effect of it though. Did you ovulate the same cycle? Also how long did it delay your cycle by?
Thanks so much x

Another update from me: the lap has made my already shortish 26 day cycles really short - so far I’ve had a 19 day and 22 day cycle. I’ve booked in for an ICSI consult in December as I’d be amazed if I got pregnant.

Periods are still pretty heavy but pain is controllable with ibruprofen which is an improvement.

Glad the pain is better. My lap dramatically improved my pain too 👍🏻
