I'm having a shit time in the Czech Republic

3, day 3 embryos with a 27 year old egg donor. That's less than we had with my eggs (my AMH is 1. 1!).

Both of us are sick, it's 34c, I'm so stressed 😞 Just want to go home.

3 at day 3 is shit isn't it? 9 collected, 7 mature, 5 fertilised. Apparently over 85% of people get something in the freezer, I think we will be lucky if we get to blast 🙁.

Poor you. I'm sorry it's so shit, and you have no control. What clinic are you at? Do you have a donor guarantee?

Lauren83 · 26/07/2019 13:25

So sorry I know how disappointing it is when you are expecting more, I also know how infuriating it is when people tell you it only takes one! My first DE cycle I got 4 eggs and 2 fert after using OE with an AMH of 2 and getting 4 eggs 4 fert I was shocked to do worse with the donor, fingers crossed for these 3!

AliceAbsolum · 26/07/2019 13:30

@lauren83 exactly the same as me - 4 collected, 4 fertilised. Thank you for saying how frustrating it is! As if we don't know that's the case, IVF is a numbers game, I wish people would validate more.
Was yours a proven donor? Mine is.

@KatnissMellark Reprofit. No blast guarantee. I've read so many good things about them, but I'm not very impressed so far. They kept us waiting for an hour at our first appointment and the Dr didn't put gloves on or wash his hands before he did an internal scan. Feel like I'm in a dodgy country :(

People will try to make you feel better but with DE you expect blasts and some to freeze for back up, that said....you could still get to blast here with something to freeze so stay positive (easier said than done) she was on unproven donor that time

My second DE I requested proven and got 11 eggs, 6 mature, 5 fert and had a DET on day 3 with 2 blast to freeze

Third DE cycle I got 9 eggs, 6 mature, 5 fert and had a double blast transfer and 2 blast frozen, with that cycle on day 3 I was looking at 5 embryos and 4 of them made it to top quality blasts so you just never know, that cycle was my first abroad too

KatnissMellark · 26/07/2019 13:37

Oh no, are you in Brno? I've been out there three times, one bfn and two miscarriages from five eggs (own), so they didn't do badly for me but obviously not the outcome I was hoping for! I thought they were really good but have heard mixed things...I did also develop a cyst over my time having treatment with them and ended up being fully investigated in the uk- diagnosed with endo, pcos, polyps. All excised/treated but it had either been missed over the course of seven IVF cycles (we were labelled male factor) at three clinics or developed over the rounds I did with them Confused Really odd. Have you been to the science musey? My DH loved that.

AliceAbsolum · 26/07/2019 16:35

@lauren83 That's so interesting, such a lot of difference between them. What's the outcome for you now?

@KatnissMellark Yup Brno, it's a great city I'm really enjoying it, all the culture and history and vegan food!
Sorry for your losses. 7 cycles! You're very strong to do that. Did any embryos stick forever for you?

I had a miscarriage on donor cycle 2 and a live birth on donor cycle 3, my sons 18 months now and I have the 2 frozen left at Serum in Athens, I then did bizarrely get pregnant myself and have a 4 week old too, our bodies are strange things!

I will keep everything crossed for you

AliceAbsolum · 26/07/2019 17:27

@lauren83 wow that's amazing! Congratulations on your babies x

Yes, we were lucky to have our son on our fourth round (UK). We've since done three at Reprofit and hoping to start a fourth soon but leaning towards using the UK gynae who did my op after the issues were found as it will mean I can be more closely monitored, and we're both pretty nervous about what's happened over the last year. I'll keep everything crossed for you.

KatnissMellark · 28/07/2019 13:02

How are you doing @AliceAbsolum? Transfer day today?

AliceAbsolum · 28/07/2019 13:09

Yup, as I expected - nothing to freeze. 1 early blast on board. We did better with my eggs... Very dissapointed really.
Just hope this one sticks. We got 200 euro back tho.

I've got everything crossed for you @AliceAbsolum, this process is so difficult. What are your plans now? Are you heading home?

mouse1234567 · 28/07/2019 14:40

@AliceAbsolum I’m so sorry to hear you haven’t got the blastocysts you expected. That must be very disappointing. Wishing you all the best with this transfer. ❤️

Pumpkin19 · 07/08/2019 23:40

Think yourself lucky to get any embryos. On our last cycle our embryos didnt make it to day 3 so nothing to put back in.

AliceAbsolum · 08/08/2019 05:57

@pumpkin19 That's not very helpful is it? I can see why you would want to reply like that, but it wasn't a kind thing to do. Obviously I was happy to get one, but no amount of "think yourself lucky" is going to lessen the disappointment.

I have absolutely no experience of what you are going through so cannot help you there. However, l live just across the border In Slovakia and am very familiar with the Czech Republic. It's very warm at the moment so maybe you you could find a water park with wellness or a spa with a pool - both very very common and much used in this part of the world and one of the reasons that I love living here! Massage and treatments are huge here and pretty affordable and well worth seeing out. Apologies if that isn't a suitable activity and good luck with your treatment.

AliceAbsolum · 08/08/2019 06:50

@WelshMammaofaSlovak Thats really sweet thank-you, I'm home now though!
OTD is tomorrow.

Huge good luck for testing!
