Egg Freezing

Hi there, hope all is well with everyone.

I'm looking into freezing my eggs ASAP. I'm based in Hertfordshire but happy to travel too.

Can anyone recommend the best places for price range & success rates?

How old are you? What is the purpose of freezing your eggs? Sorry, you don't have to answer - I'm just being nosy and would say to avoid egg freezing (or not) depending on your answers.

Embryo freezing rates do still have slightly higher success rates than egg freezing...

Embryo freezing has much higher success rates.

Sadly egg freezing is a bit of a con.
They don't Really thaw properly due to their jelly like consistency.

After a four year relationship with three recurrent miscarriages, I am now suddenly single. I'm 42. It may never happen for me but I'd like to freeze my eggs ASAP. It's been devastating. I feel this is the one positive thing I can now do.

One thing to bear in mind is that at 42, unfortunately, statistically speaking a very large proportion of your eggs will be chromosomally abnormal. So, it may be that in order to have enough eggs frozen to give you any prospect of success, you might need to do multiple cycles. The HFEA have actually said that "where women over the age of 40 are freezing their own eggs, the likelihood of a future pregnancy is very slim and we would caution against this being a sensible option for this group of women" so definitely expect any clinic to have a very serious conversation with you about this (and, frankly, if be very wary of any clinic that didn't caution you about this).

I can absolutely understand what's driving you to want to do this, but I'd encourage you, when you locate a clinic you like, to have a broad discussion with them about options available to you, and to make use of the counselling they provide in order to think those options through with support. Things like embryo freezing or using donor eggs would most likely offer you greater odds of eventual success, although they're emotionally very different things to egg freezing.
