Cancelled IVF how long before you got your period?

Hi All,

I did a long protocol but it was cancelled just before egg collection due to not enough follicles for collection-I was gutted.

The consultant advised to stop menopur injections but continue with Buserelin injections for a week, he told me I should get my period 7-10 days later, it’s now been 5 weeks and no period even though I have felt like I have my period with about 2 weeks, lower back pain, cramps, headaches- everything but a bleed. Anyone have experience of this and how long before your period showed up?

Thanks for reading.

How many follicles did you have? Did they decide to trigger you anyway and release what you had? I'm only asking that as I know some clinics do in your situation and tell you to try naturally that month or swap you on to IUI so as not to waste the eggs you have managed to grow?? Is being pregnant completely out of the question?

Thanks for your response. I only had 3 follicles, one was at expected size but the other 2 were very small, hence why they cancelled. I didn’t take the trigger shot, having googled since I wonder why he didn’t recommend that. He told me to keep taking the buserlin for a week to down reg ovulation to prevent pregnancy and to only have protected sex, he did mention something about the fact that there were 3 follicles that triplets would be a possibility and at my age 41 it would be dangerous? To be honest I was a bit upset at the time and maybe wasn’t listening properly.

We did have sex, I took a pregnancy test 2 weeks ago, bfn and none since as I was convinced each morning that my period would show up that day. If it doesn’t show by Monday I’ll do another test. I suppose my hormones are just all over the place.

Thanks again
