Similar experiences -success stories-Rising beta HCG but not doubling every 48 hours

Hi,
So I found out I’m pregnant -4w 1d. However my HCG bloods are rising but not doubling in 48 hours. At 3w 5 d it was 43 then two days later at 4w it was 76. I was hoping for more like 90. I have also had two small episodes of spotting -that doesn’t wholly worry me as it could be to do with implantation but coupled with the slow rising HCG it worries me more.

Any success stories with slow rising betas??

Hi mouse1234567, I have a semi-success story (I’m pregnant, but only 11+3 so not counting my chickens yet!) I had an HCG level of 101 on my OTD (4+1) which my clinic were happy with. However my subsequent HCG results were awful:

4+2 - 114
4+3 - 134
4+4 - 152
4+6 - 237

They finally started doubling at 5+1 and 5+3 but then slowed down again. Had our first scan at 6+1 and was expecting them to say it was either another ectopic or a blighted ovum. Instead we saw a heartbeat. Our HCG levels never got really high, but all of our scans have been normal.

The two weeks between OTD and our first scan were without the most stressful of my life and you have my sympathy - the feeling of being in limbo between delight at getting BFP and fear that it’s not going to work out is horrific. The one thing that gave me hope is that the range of “normal” HCG levels for each week of early pregnancy is very wide and even if we almost never had a “normal” doubling time, my levels were always in the normal range.

I think your increase sounds absolutely fine - the “normal” doubling time is 48-72 hours where the level is below about 1,200 and you’re well within that so try not to panic (easier said than done I know).

I hope everything works out for you - will have my fingers crossed for you. Apologies for this essay-length answer, but I hope it gives you some reassurance!

@lulahbelle thanks so much for your response. I’m sorry you had such a stressful time with the hcg but I’m pleased to know things looked good on the scans. Wishing you a great pregnancy.

Yes it’s horrible isn’t it -I think my coping mechanism needs to be to expect things to not look good on the viability scan-tryinf to prepare myself for the worst although obviously you always hope! I went for private blood tests but I think I might stop going as I feel it might add to the stress. My OTD isn’t even until this Thursday!!

Hello,

How are things going? Your numbers almost replicate mine and I'm also sat in limbo not knowing whether to even hope

Also would love an update our beta was very low but the numbers tripled and double subsequently on the follow up bloods, tomorrow we have our third followed by an ultrasound and seriously we don’t even know how to feel now...

That's amazing that they've shot up, do update me x
Waiting until the 30th is hellish so we bought those clear blue week indicators but unfortunately it's still 1-2 weeks so that shows we haven't even got to 150 😔
Just want it over now so I can control my irrational thoughts of a miracle baby and move to the future x
