We will be starting ICSI in about 6 weeks too.

We have had one successful IVF but moving to ICSI due to fertilisation issues (only had one embryo from IVF, despite 15 eggs collected).

Because we have a dc (after 7 years of trying and believing that we would never be successful), I am trying to treat this as a bonus if it works and if it doesn't, we are already luckier than we thought possible.

Are you taking time off work for the cycle? I did and I found it so helpful to relax.

Things I did on my successful cycle:
I took my stims at 9pm every night and then lay down with a hot water bottle because I heard that heat helps the eggs grow

Drink lots of water

Brazil nuts and pineapple after transfer - I have no idea if this has any basis in science but it helped me feel I was doing something so I would have 3 brazil nuts and some pineapple chunks every night.

I've never heard of the wheat bag Smile

Of all the treatments we have done and all the stories I have heard from other people, I do think a large amount of success is down to luck so whatever you're happier with will be fine I'm sure.

It's a wheat filled bag that smells of lavender in a teddy lol yeah it seems to be just luck doesn't it I'll keep everything crossed for us xx

I have just had my second ICSI treatment, my first although on paper went perfect unfortunately ended in a BFN, I found the first cycle very stressful as I didn’t know what to expect but I have found this second one so much easier, remember everyones body reacts differently so don’t worry yourself if your journey is different to someone else’s as I got myself worrying about unnecessary things in my first treatment as my follicles took longer to grow than most peoples and it turned out that this is nothing at all to worry about

Hi, currently 6 weeks pregnant after my 1st round of ICSI. I was very lucky that I didn't have too many side effects from the injections but by far the hardest part is all the waiting and uncertainty: waiting to find out how many eggs fertilised (even with icsi fertilisation isn't guaranteed so I got 12 eggs but only 8 mature, of those only 6 fertilised and 3 made it to day 5), how many have made it to blastocyst stage and if there will be any good enough to freeze, and then the dreaded wait to test. The advice we were given was no perfume or cologne at any stage of treatment as it can damage eggs and embryos, take folic acid and vitamin D throughout, and after embryo transfer no hot baths or high impact exercise or anything likely to raise your body temperature. Good luck!
