Hi all, just started 6 months of Letrozole. Does anyone have any experience taking it or success stories?

I'm on it at the moment, I was on 5mg for two months and recently upped to 7.5mg. I'm 36 with PCOS, had one natural conception that sadly ended in miscarriage 5 months ago. I'm on my first cycle of 7.5mg but have had no monitoring other than a 21 day blood test that I'm menato to go for next week.

No real side effects to be honest, my period on cycle one was lighter but was back to normal on the second cycle. No idea what it'll be like on 7.5mg - I hope I don't find out, om CD14 now. I cant share any positive stories as I haven't had any good news yet but fingers crossed for you.

Looking at letrozole online, there is lots of positives regarding numbers of conception, I hope we can both be one of those positive statistics

@RoxyP I'm on letrozole and I've found that it really works for me (although I havent conceived yet..) its making me ovulate each month (I'm on month 3 of taking it..) my cycles appear to be alot better and I'm ovulating. I'm being monitored regularly which is great. I went on Wednesday (day 12) and had a 16mm follicle. I've gotta go back today to find out what it's at now and possibly take overdrille? Anybody taken this? Will hopefully have more to report later xx

RoxyP · 07/06/2019 10:55

Hi @Pinktruffle @Mummylaura1988 thanks for this, please keep me posted! Im on first cycle, 2.5mg to start, being scanned next week so fingers crossed something's happening, I have unexplained infertility, maybe that's why I'm on a low dosage as I'm already ovulating 🤷🏼‍♀️ Only side effect Iv got is I seem to wee a lot Confused

Hi @RoxyP, went to the hospital today for another follixle tracking scan. The follicle has gone from 16mm on Wednesday to 18mm today so its growing at the right rate. I was told to do the overdrille at 6pm tonight and have sex on Sunday and Monday morning. Sunday morning will be fine however Monday morning will be the hard one as partner leaves the house at 6:10 so would mean rather an early morning wake up call. Confused fingers crossed for this month. Have u asked your hospital for follicle tracking scans? I'd be lost without them tbh. I like the fact I know if anything is happening etc. Xx

RoxyP · 07/06/2019 20:40

@Mummylaura1988 that's some early morning exercise!! I think the tracking scans start next week but if not I will def ask. Also what's overdrille?

Mummylaura1988 · 07/06/2019 21:14

@RoxyP I know your telling me and I'm not an early morning person at all either which doesnt help Haha.
Ovidrel is a HCG injection. It basically matures the egg and releases it apparently. Google has told me it takes 24/36 hours after the injection that you release the egg although the nurse told me to have sex Sunday morning and then again Monday morning so we shall see what happens there lol xx

RoxyP · 24/06/2019 08:04

Hi @Pinktruffle @Mummylaura1988 how's your letrozole journey going, could really do with a positive push today, prob Monday blues! Here's hoping to one of us getting a bfp soon x

OP posts:
Pinktruffle · 24/06/2019 10:00

I started my period yesterday after month 3 (I think). I was upped to 7.5mg last month but still no BFP. Starting to feel really desperate now

Pinktruffle · 24/06/2019 10:01

I meant after month 3 of Letrozole not a period after 3 months. I'm probably not the best person to lift your blues as I'm feeling pretty crappy myself

RoxyP · 24/06/2019 21:25

I'm sorry to hear that @Pinktruffle it well and truly sucks, how many more months of it have they advised? Don't worry I'm desperate and Iv only done 1 month!

If I'm not pregnant by August, my specialist wants me to try and get a cancellation appointment and start the ball rolling for IVF. I have enough tablets to last me till Novemeber which is when my scheduled appointment withe specialist is.... I'm not sure what to do as I was really hoping to get pregnant without IVF but that's starting to look like a dream

callypally · 09/07/2019 19:38

Hi girls!
I hope you don't mind me joining in too!
Today I had my next infertility gynaecologist appointment and I've been given 4 months worth of 5mg letrozole (I have pcos and absent/irregular periods)
I won't be starting until a couple of weeks when my next period comes, but it would be good to chat to others on it too!
She has asked for 3 scans during the first months cycle, then day 21 blood tests for the remaining months after that to see if I'm ovulating.
How are you all getting along with it? Hope it works well for us all!

Goingbacktokansascity · 09/07/2019 20:40

Hi @RoxyP. I have success story on letrozole, conceived my DS last March on 7.5mg after being on it for 6 months. This is my first month taking it trying to conceive DC2. It does work for some people and can takes a while so don’t lose hope. I didn’t ovulate for 5 months on it, 3 months on 2.5, 2 months on 5 and then finally 7.5 did it!

RoxyP · 10/07/2019 08:01

Yes finally @Goingbacktokansascity I love a success story! My worry is I'm ovulating and always have but still no luck, maybe they might up my dose?

Hi @callypally I'm on second cycle a few aches and pains but nothing bad, good luck I hope it works for you x

@Pinktruffle Hope your ok! Iv got an appointment end of August to talk about ivf, I kinda thought it wouldn't get to that stage, it's a sad thought

Goingbacktokansascity · 10/07/2019 08:53

@RoxyP I used preseed the month I conceived. I also did the deed every 2 days from day 6 ALL the way until I got the positive test just to make sure. My day 21 blood test said I didn’t ovulate so I must have ovulated after that

RoxyP · 10/07/2019 10:21

@Goingbacktokansascity what's preseed? I googled it but a few different things came up

OP posts:
RoxyP · 10/07/2019 10:23

Ahh it's lube, I thought it might be a supplement

OP posts:
Pinktruffle · 10/07/2019 11:33

I paid for some private scans yesterday to try and confirm ovulation but they just confused me more rather than clearing any thing up. She thinks I have a small cyst in my endometrium, which she is 99% sure is a cyst but could e a pregnancy sack but this in unlikely because I had my period 2 weeks ago (I'm sure I'm not pregnant, was a heavy period).

I also had fluid build up which could indicate ovulation but could be an infection so it was basically just a waste of £90 as it told me nothing.

Goingbacktokansascity · 10/07/2019 14:43

@Pinktruffle sorry to hear that. Fingers crossed that period two weeks ago combined with pelvic fluid suggests ovulation

Mrsallenxo · 15/10/2019 23:59

Ladies how long after stopping letrozole did your side effects go? They are making me miserable! On cycle day 16 of our second month and its unsuccessful so we will have an ivf consultation. Please tell me the side effects go soon!

RoxyP · 16/10/2019 08:31

@Mrsallenxo the side effects of letrozole didn't ease they stayed while I was taking it but caught on my 2nd month so went from letrozole side effects to pregnancy symptoms. I have been told they go when you stop taking it, how many month have you been given?

OP posts:
Goingbacktokansascity · 16/10/2019 08:33

@Mrsallenxo what side effects are bothering you? I think my worst was my headaches which eased up by day 21 I think (when I’d be told I hadn’t ovulated, maybe psychosomatic?!) 🤯 bloating continued the whole cycle for me.

How do you know you’re unsuccessful on day 16?
Month i got pregnant with my son day 21 bloods said I hadn’t ovulated, day 28 bloods said I was pregnant so my consultant said that I must have ovulated day 19-21.
Also remember scans are a 2D picture of a 3D structure so can miss corpus luteums/follicles so I’m hoping that’s the case for you xxx

Goingbacktokansascity · 16/10/2019 08:34

@RoxyP congratulations! I remember that well, my letrozole naausea became my pregnancy nausea 😌😌😌

RoxyP · 16/10/2019 09:02

@Goingbacktokansascity I can't remember when I last felt well! I went from laparoscopy effects to letrozole side effects to really bad morning sickness, I'm sure it will all be worth it and will totally forget it all in 5 months...

OP posts:
Mrsallenxo · 16/10/2019 10:08

I know because im scanned every month on cycle day 12 & my folicles are much too small meaning no chance of ovulation. Hot flushes, headaches & not sleeping is whats bothering me the most
