Trying to conceive

Hello,
I’m 38 and have decided late in life I would like a baby with my husband. Have not undergone any tests yet but despite trying for last few years, no signs of pregnancy. Just wondering is it even worth me pursuing nhs ivf and waiting list at my age or should I just try and fund privately? Anyone recommend any clinics abroad for cheaper ivf? I know at my age that the success rate isn’t high. 🙁🥺

Depends on where you live in the uk! You can find your ccg guidelines on fertility fairness website. It's worth pursuing testing on the nhs as a minimum. See your gp in the first instance.

38 is not ancient!!!!

I started treatment at 38. My advice is to pay for Level 1/Level 2 testing right at the beginning if you can afford it (it costs roughly 2-3k). If the consultant queries why you don’t want to wait until 3 failed cycles say it’s because of your age and you want to identify any issues now. Hopefully the results come out fine but in my case I had every problem under the sun and my first cycle post treatment resulted in a bfp (after 3 traumatic failed transfers).
