Could anyone please advise how long they had to wait for funding approval? And then timescale to first IVF appointment? I am at Birmingham Womens but any information would be appreciated. We are 1 and 1/2 years since our first GP appointment and I am 38 so feeling the frustration.

It certainly is!!!

I gave up on the NHS.
Sold my house to fund private treatment.
Original GP appt March 2018
Follow up GP November 2018
Referral appointment with fertility nurse practitioner January 2019.
Proper NHS consultant appointment just arrived a few days ago- August 20th...
I currently have very little faith in the NHS.

Pleaseletitbeme · 30/04/2019 22:43

Oh and I’m 38 too.

@Pleaseletitbeme I don't blame you our first appointment at the hospital was start of Jan, we have only just been referred for funding, there was only one test result we were waiting for which was done same day. NHS has been dire. We never get any information, when we ring up no one answers. I'm trying to get a bit more information on timescales at 38 there is no time to loose.

Rd12. Are you in a position to go privately?

enialenagem · 01/05/2019 19:33

My funding application went in in January, got the funding in March. First appointment at the clinic was April - starting IVF next week. I spent a year having different testing though.

@Pleaseletitbeme we are considering it due to how long its taking but we don't really have the funds so trying to weigh it all up with as much info as possible.

@enialenagem thanks for the info. Were you at Birmingham Women's?

2.5 years from 1st GP appt to starting ivf. I'm not at Birmingham though.

@AliceAbsolum thanks for the info, it's all useful to help get an idea.
