1st gynaecologist app

Hi,

I’m on an outpatient waiting list with my local hospital. I have been TTC (trying to conceive) for a while now and have been referred by my GP. I am waiting for my appointment letter but it should be any day now.

Looking to find out from experience what to expect? What checks will they do? How long is the process roughly to find out what is the reason I am struggling to catch? Any and all info would be appreciated!

Hi, has your gp done any test before the referral?our time line is going like this...
went to see gp jan and got refered to acu.
Feb had 21 day bloods done,oh had sperm analysis. We also had our first appointment at the acu in feb. They checked height, weight and co2. As we provided the sperm sample late on the Friday and had the appointment on Monday we had no time to phone for the results. So at the appointment they told us it was likely male factor. (But this was purely based on my 21 day bloods being ok as I have had no other test at this point)They recommended supplements and to repeat sperm analysis in 3 months. They also done a vaginal ultrasound while at this appointment. (All looked well)
May is sperm analysis 2 and a hycosy for myself. Then June we go back to get a plan as what to do next. Hope this helps x

So I originally went to GP in Nov and had 21 day test. Came back as low progesterone but my period was delayed that particular month. Bloods also showed I had very low iron. Sperm analysis for my partner came back all ok. Once my period regulated I went back to docs in Jan and repeated blood test. All levels were back up and doctor said progesterone levels suggested that I had ovulated.

Sorry if I am being stupid but what does co2 stand for?

The waiting list has been 20 weeks so I’m trying to keep positive but want to be in the best position I can for moving forward after the app.

Do you know if the gynaecologist will prescribe clomid or if this would be the fertility unit instead? Xx

The test to see if you smoke. What makes you think you would need clomid?has this been discussed with u?im not sure who would need to prescribe it tbh. Is there a difference between gynaecology and acu?might be being daft here🤦🏻‍♀️all my letters just say infertility in the specialty bit🤷🏻‍♀️The waiting is the worse....x

I have no clue, I’m just going off what I have read. Tbh I have no clue about this whole process which makes the unknown worse!

So my GP wrote to gynaecology at my local hospital and not the fertility unit. I think the reason is because I weigh 14st and I need to be about 12st for my BMI to be within the criteria. So I think I’m going to gynaecologist to do all tests and then il be referred to the fertility unit. Which again is an assumption 🤷🏽‍♀️ I’m 13st now so only 1 more to go, that’s my goal so that if I need to be referred to the fertility unit, I’m all ready to go! Xx

Ahhh I see. Yeh I'm not at all well clued up🙈I'm just hoping the drs know what they are doing lol!!i just made the bmi criteria🙈well done on the weight loss!it isn't easy.nah one or two would not change your result unless it was right before the appointment. I think the fact that different health boards require different things before referral adds to the confusion. Like wise the number of goes you get vary depending on your health board. Thankfully mine does 3 rounds of ivf funded. hopefully we both get to were we need to be within a decent time frame x
