Hi everyone, I just got my blood results back (done privately) and I not sure what to make of these results. I am 38 currently TTC and looking into IVF. many thanks
TSH 3.52, LH 5.6, Oestradil 144, prolactin 645, AMH 7.9.

It's the AMH level which is the more important one - this is an indication of ovarian egg reserve and declines as we get older. I'm nearly 36 and the average AMH range for my age range should be 15-22 - I'm at 12.9 so below average and is an indicator of how well a person responds to ivf medication. I would say your AMH is on the lower side but maybe not for your age? NHS has a cut off at which they will treat someone with low AMH so bear that in mind and maybe check with the clinics you are looking in to?
AMH isn't the be all and end all though as you can have high AMH but rubbish quality eggs?! X

As per poster above nhs does have a cut off for AMH abut I think in my area it was 5ish? (Don’t quote me on that)

I’m not sure on the other bloods but TSH should be

I don't know about any of the other tests, but for TSH my gynecologist wanted it below 2 for optimum fertility. I have hypothyroidism and wasn't ovulating until I got it down lower. I was already within the normal range for general health but apparently it wasn't low enough to ovulate.

Thank you all for your help. I am 38 but was not expecting such a low AMH. But I guess that's the risk of leaving things late. I have an appointment with my GP tomorrow and hopping to get something for the TSH and prolactin which is high as well :-(

Your prolactin isn’t very high - mine was more than that and then normal on rechecking am- it’s prine to going up if stressed.

I also don’t think your AMH is that low for your age. Mine was 8.3 age 31 - I got 20 eggs on cycle 1 and 22 on cycle 2. Breastfeeding my 7 week old as I type this!

Also lots of GPS don’t know much about TSH and trying to conceive so they may tell you it’s normal and you don’t need treatment - a fertility specialist may suggest thyroxine though

Just wanted to update you since you were all so helpful.
I went to see my GP and as suspected he didn't think my TSH of 3.5 was a problem and said he is not a fertility specialist nor an Endocrinologist can't prescribe anything because my levels need to be above 10. However as my prolactin was 645 and higher than the recommended level he agreed to write me a referral letter to see a private Endocrinologist through my work private health insurance. Seeing him on Monday. Many thanks again

Great news. Glad you are moving forward.

@Koko04 normal level for prolactin is around 446 I think so you aren't too far off, stress is one thing that can make it rise. Good luck with your appointment
