@Mummylaura1988 ive has 2 cycles with Menopur, what dose are you prescribed? I've had 150 both times. Both times I've felt very tired and sick but I got 12 eggs the first time and will find out on Friday what they collect this time. It's pretty unpleasant to be completely honest, but I think I have more side effects than others seems to?

Good luck for Friday, I'm very sure you'll be fine

Are you going through IVF? I'm not going through IVF I've just been prescribed menopur injections to help with ovulation? Its like a last ditch attempt to get pregnant naturally..is that even possible with menopur injections? I'm at a complete loss as everything I've read about menopur points to it being part of an IVF protocol?

Any advise would be greatly appreciated? Xx

I have had it for four cycles of IVF. Never heard of it being used for anything else. It burns when you inject it but I don't find the side effects too awful. Good luck.

Never heard of it being used for anything else.
I think you can use it for both IUI and for ovulation induction with timed insemination but in a lower dose than for ivf as obviously you don’t want as many follicles to develop for either IUI or ovulation induction.

To answer the OPs question, I didn’t find the side effects too bad at all on a dose of 450 (but I was a poor responder).

Yes I had them 11 years ago. I found it hard injecting myself. I did two months and the 10 year old result is fighting against sleep here beside me.

I had done Clomid before but nothing else I think. I did not have it with IVF more to boost ovulation I think. Anyway it must have helped. I don't remember any side effects (whereas I do remember side effects from Clomid).

I've used it For ivf - higgish dose of 300 and felt relatively good on it. Although anything feels better after down regulating on buserelin. I had progynova for my medicated FET cycle and felt bloody awful (v dark thoughts, as well as v nauseous).

Thankyou so much for your responses ladies. I'm very eager to get going although I don't know how I'm going to do the initial injection. Confused but I'm at that point where I'll litterly do anything for another baby. Is the success rates on it with timmed intercourse any good do you know? I'm going to be on menopur 1200 IU I believe. Xx

1200? I have the highest dose I think and that's 450.

Wesstywoo · 21/03/2019 07:43

I think the boxes they come in are a total of 1200 but the highest individual injection you can take is 450 xx

Mummylaura1988 · 21/03/2019 08:09

Ah maybe that is what it is then. I'm not sure what dose I'm on then tbh. I've got to go tomorrow and be shown how to do them and presume to be told what doese I'm on. The below picture is what I have been given with a lot of other suringes etc..I'm so scared to try it..have u had any success from the first month of doing it? I get married next year and it's getting so close to the wedding that I dont want to be pregnant when I get married really I would like to have had a baby before then xx

@Mummylaura1988 yes they will tell you what dose you need to measure out each time. I took it as part of IVF - I was on max dose (I suspect you will be on lower) but I didn't find them at all painful. Good luck to you!

Mummylaura1988 · 21/03/2019 16:12

@Wesstywoo thankyou for your response. I will find out tomorrow and keep you updated. I'm so anxious to start them and praying that these injections work as we have been trying for rather a long time for a baby and ovulation appears to be the only problem we have.
