Perimenopause (POI)

Hi All,
Im new to this and not sure if im posting in the correct place.
So last year in May 2018 i was diagnosed with going through perimenopause as my menstrual cycle had become very irregular, id started getting horrible random hot sweats and little raised itchy lumps on my body from my waist up, my hormone FSH levels were also very high.
My menstrual cycle then actually leveled itself out and for the past 7 months has been regular, up until now, when its stopped again. Would anyone have any ideas as to anyting that could stop a menstrual cycle so suddenly?

As you can imagine, i am only 29. I have no children of my own, and so I am struggling to come to terms with this. I literally do not feel worth anything in this world anymore knowing that i can not possibly do what women are brought into this world to do and reproduce.

I am looking for some advice from anyone who has been in similar situations.....advice on how to handle the perimenopausal symptoms and advice on how to handle this situation emotionally, how to learn to come to terms with not being able to have children.

Also i would really like to hear from people if there is anyone out there that can offer some positive news from a bad situation..... anyone who has been in a similar situation but now has children of their own whether they be biological or not, and anyone who has emotionally came out into some light regarding how heart breaking this kind of news is.

Thank you all in advance for an responces that you can provide, its much appreciate at this time.

I’m sorry I can’t offer any advice, but there should be other ladies who can offer advice soon.

Rspu3 thank you so much for your reply.
I am so sorry to hear that you are feeling the way i am too but for different circumstances. Life can be so very cruel and it is easy to feel alone at times. Joining this is literally my last hope of trying to find other women in my situation that can offer a bit of advice, help and support.
I wish you luck in your future xx

Hello keepingfaith. I’m sorry you are facing such heartache right now. But it definitely has no bearing on the person you are or your worth (despite it feeling that way sometimes I’m sure). There is a group which can provide information and support called the daisy network (easy enough to find online). Good luck x

Hi @keepingfaith89, I just wanted to say that I’m in a similar situation, I was diagnosed in January with POI (I am 34 and also don’t have any children). I don’t really have any advice I’m afraid since I’m struggling at the moment too, but wanted to let you know you’re not alone 💛

I'm not sure what your results are but I was diagnosed with POF at 28 with an FSH of 24 and an AMH of 2, I was put on HRT by an endocrinologist and went on to have a baby with donor eggs that a surprise natural pregnancy when he was 8 months

talulahbelle · 11/03/2019 20:39

I’ve got POI, I’ve two children through egg donation. PM me if you like.

Foxy84 i am so sorry to hear you are in the same situation as me, i know how hard it is both physically and emotionally to deal with and i have found it difficult with being so young and noone around me has ever had to deal with it which makes it hard to speak with people in your life when they dont have an understanding of it.
Lauren83, my FSH levels were veyr high but so far due to the menstrual cycyle continueing, i was not put onto any medication but due to go back to my GP as now they have stopped again. I am so very happy to hear that you carried a baby and gave birth naturally, it is inspirtation and hope that is needed at this time.

@Lauren83

Hi. I know this is an old post. My last fsh on cd 2 was 24. My IVF cycle was cancelled. I’d even done estrogen priming (small amount) but don’t know how much I absorbed.

I’ve got a vaginal infection and need to prepare for my frozen transfer. However, my consultant wants to do it without any estrogen at all. I feel that is a big mistake. I’m trying to treat my infection but I’m experiencing vaginal dryness. Sorry if tmi. When you were prescribed hrt, how much was it? Did you take it every day?

Thanks
