Short Luteal Phase

Hi All, I’m new to mumsnet so apologise if I am posting I’m the wrong place . . . I’m kind of at my wits end 🙁 I already have a beautiful 4 year old but conceiving our 2nd is proving far more difficult.
Cut a long story short I have a short luteal phase and really need some support/ advice on what I should be taking. Just started B6 and bought some Epsom salts for magnesium. Cq10 is on my list along with EPO/ flax seed and folic acid. Had anyone had experience with Agnus Castus? GP not interested so had private scans, all good except thin lining post ovulation . . Help please! Just would love to talk to someone in same boat as I feel so lonely 😢 xxx

I had this with my first attempt at pregnancy. My cycles would be all over the place length wise (sometimes 40 days sometimes 20 etc) but I’d always ovulate late sometimes having a period just 2-4 days after ovulation (usually between 5-7 days).

This is where my advice gets less helpful as while we were waiting for our IVF to start I got pregnant naturally (and unexpectedly) so either my cycle was more normal that month or it just worked somehow. At that point we had been trying for 2 years.

Before this happened I had been focusing on being healthy mind and body so eating well, doing yoga, accupuncture, having therapy about it all though.

Once my periods came back I had a two week bleed, 2 week break cycle. Was just getting investigations about that when I got pregnant again.

Sorry, probably not much help but didn’t want to read and run and I guess I’m saying my random cycles didn’t stop me getting pregnant but I can’t say any one thing helped.....

Fertility acupuncture and fertility yoga (I did both) lengthened my 10 day LP to 12 - 13 days. Also thickened my lining up.

Good luck 😊

Thank you to both of you :-) I am just looking into acupuncture now, so interested to see if this works/ has some effect . . . it's so stressful. The stress in itself probably isn't helping!

@CritterTamer where did you do your fertility yoga. Are there certain positions which help?

CritterTamer · 07/03/2019 14:21

@granolacrayons I did the yoga at home - there's a fabulous lady putting her fertility yoga sessions on You Tube - search for Yoga Yin fertility yoga. She focuses on asanas that stimulate blood flow to the uterus and ovaries and balance reproductive hormones. It's also great for stress relief.

@critterTamer that sounds great, I will look her up :-)

My luteal phase has never been more than 9 days and I have a DS and Twin girls.

It’s never really caused me issues in getting pregnant, I did have a dr prescribe me progesterone once I was pregnant though as I had recurrent miscarriages

Featherofpositivity · 07/03/2019 14:54

@stinkytoe that's good to know. What form of progesterone did the DR prescribe you with out of interest? My LP is 7-8 days at the moment.

I read drinking raspberry leaf tea the first 14 days of the cycle is supposed to help lengthen literal phase. I’m not sure though as I never have been able to stick to it. My luteal phase is on the short side of 9-10 days.
