GP test question

Hi everyone. Not sure if any of you have been in a similar position but hoping you might be able to help. I had my first GP appointment last week and I had a urine, vaginal swab and bloods done. The results came back today and all look normal but I have to go for another blood test on day 21 of my next cycle. However I am currently on day 44 of my current cycle. Do I just need to wait for my next period to start and book the next blood test appointment? I'm concerned that it might be a long wait and that the results of the first test will no longer be valid. Thanks!

The day 21 test will be looking at your progesterone levels. The idea of it being on day 21 is that this is about a week after ovulation (if you ovulate on day 14). So, the timing is quite important - but if you regularly have longer cycles then day 21 might not be the appropriate day for you (if, for instance, you ovulate on day 20, then a test on day 21 would be kind of irrelevant, it would need to be day 27). So yes, you do need to wait until your next cycle gets underway, but if you think your ovulation might not be happening at the 'typical' day 14, then maybe check with your GP surgery about timing.

If your cycles are longer than 28 days then a test on day 21 is pointless as Persipan had already advised. They need to take into account your cycle length

Thank you both for your responses. Much appreciated! My cycles usually are 28 days but I have completely skipped a period this cycle. This ttc business is confusing and frustrating!

You probably just had an anovulatory cycle - it happens sometimes! I know it's frustrating, hang in there.
