Had a really bad day. Seems like we just won’t ever get referred to gyn/ infertility st the hospital as my gp is a waste of time.
First went to the doctors last year in April, had basic tests on me and my partner was referred in October to the hospital for janruary that appointment got cancelled. Then re booked and today have had a letter that it’s been cancelled again because our doctor has not attached results. I’m lost for words and have gone mad at the doctor over the phone as we just seem like we are getting nowhere at all. I understand nhs is lengthy time scale wise but to nearly be a year of tests and not to be referred is a piss take!
We don’t have the money right now for private as we are saving. Just wanted to know how if any of you have had private through payment plans or loans?
I’m getting too disheartened and stressed through the nhs already and we haven’t even been to the hospital yet.

Hi most ivf clinics offer a payment plan of some kind - usually interest free for 12/24 months. But actually taking a bank loan out over 5 years (just tell them it's for a car or something!) worked out better and brought the monthly repayments down
There are also some schemes which offer up to a full refund if you don't have a successful pregnancy at the end (I have history of miscarriage so wasn't eligible for that)

I know the waiting's horrible it took me 18 months from referral to starting treatment, the private clinics in my area don't offer payment plans it's payable upfront but I know a lot get a low interest loan. Do be mindful though that you often forfeit NHS cycles for each private cycle you pay for so I know a lot regret paying to speed things up as if it fails you usually can't access the funding afterwards, check your CCG though as they are all a little different

Thankyou for your replies have calmed down somewhat now.
Still devastated to be honest the appointment has been something I have kind of looked forward to if that makes sense, just knowing we are getting the ball rolling but it just always seems to end up like this, still nowhere after nearly a year. We’ve been trying for 5 years so I’m not coping well anymore with it all. Have looked into unlimited cycle options and going to continue saving for that, while waiting on the nhs, have sorted the tests we need out now, so frustrated with my doctor and have him an earful on the phone. Thankyou again for your replies, glad I have this forum or would lose my mind. X

Since I posted we have now had a hospital appointment and we have a follow for September we are then being referred for ivf so I’m thinking it will be early next year. Just saving now and feel a little more in control and hopeful now I know a timescale of some sorts. I have looked into a polish clinic @missmarry Thankyou for your suggestion as we will be deciding on wether to go abroad or not just depends if this nhs cycle works or not! X
