2WW post 5dt using donor eggs

Good morning ladies.

The title says it all. I had 2x 5day blasts transferred yesterday afternoon. Now we are waiting to see if we have been successful this cycle.

We are in Northern Cyprus for our treatment using donor eggs and this cycle went as follows

Friday 11th - 15 eggs retrieved from donor and DH provided his sperm sample. Of those 15 eggs, 13 fertilised and 2 failed.

Monday 14th - Day 3 post fertilisation. All 13 embryos developing and good quality. 3 are slightly slower to develop but embryologist hopeful they will catch up.

Wednesday 16th - Day 5. 4 of the embryos are excellent quality and suitable for transfer. Consultant chose to transfer 2 and freeze the other 2 in case we decide to come back again in the future.

Now we are relaxing and resting in our hotel at the coast. Weather hasn’t been too good for the last few days so we have stuck close to base and made use of the facilities here.

Next Wednesday we will go back to the clinic for a blood test which ‘might’ show whether we have been successful - there is evidence that, 7 days post 5 day transfer in donor egg ivf cycles, hCG can be detected and, because there is no trigger shot in donor ivf, there is no risk of residual hCG being present to skew the results. If that blood test is negative then we will have a test at home on the 28th.

Thank you @theglitterfairy. I’ve been having some crampy, achey pains today which DH thinks is a positive sign!! Only 3 more days to wait for my 7dp5dt blood test!

Rememberallball we had our FET on 17th Janin Greece. Our cycle back in September we had 19 mature eggs, of those 19 we ended up with 4 excellent quality 5 day blasts, same as you there was a high numbet at day 3 but they didn't make it to day 5. We froze all and returned in Jan.
From speaking to the consultants, they said day 1 would be the blasts hatching and cells continue dividing , day 2 the blast continues to hatch and attaches itself to lininh, day 3 attaches deeper into lining, day 4 it goes eveb further into lining and attaches itself to the blood supply - some get implantation bleeding and cramping, day 5 implantation is complete and the cells continue to divide which will become the placenta, day 6 the placenta cells will start to excrete the HcG.
We were told blood test on day 9 and urine could be done from day 11. I have had no cramping or spotting or any other symptoms so just praying my two in board are all ok.

Good luck

@AniSL, I remember you from earlier threads about ivf abroad - and your excellent spreadsheet!!

I’m so pleased you have had your FET now and fingers crossed for positive progress for you over the next few days. Thank you for the well explained timeline of the first week. I found the information about day 7 blood tests being possible in a website from a US clinic after our consultant here asked how long we were staying post transfer and, when he heard it was 8 days, said we might even know before we flew home!! Hence the blood test on Wednesday. Though we are prepared that it might not be sufficient to show at that point so, even though it might be negative, that doesn’t mean the cycle has failed and to have another blood test on day 12 as well!!

Have a lovely relaxing Sunday x

Awwww thanks rememberallball, I have fingers crossed for you, I guess if the placenta cells start growing and releasing HcG then maybe there will be enough in the blood for that early detection. I guess mine said wait until day 9 as that day there would definitely be hormone in the blood, good luck with the test.

You too. I’m guessing you have your blood test on Saturday? I’m wondering about whether to try and get a blood test once we’re back in the UK on Thursday or at the weekend - if we can find somewhere to do it over the weekend otherwise we’ll wait til Monday and then, if it’s positive, get repeats done Wednesday and Friday for reassurance that it’s rising!!

Yes we test on Saturday at a clinic in Wimpole Street that our clinic referred us to. We are home in the UK now. DH says travelling into London for the bloods may not be worth it as factor the travel cost, it will cost more than the medichecks cost. Wimpole do the test for £24. But it costs us each £23 to get into London. How u doing with the wait?

I’m ok at the minute waiting. I think still being in Cyprus is helping so I can just pretend we’re on holiday!!

Our GP surgery has said they will do the blood test privately when they see the written paperwork from the clinic as they need to see the written instruction for the test to be able to call the lab and ask the price. If there is any issue with them doing it for us both Royal Cornwall hospital and Derriford hospital in Plymouth do private ivf treatment so I’m hoping one or the other will do the bloods for us (but expect them to be more expensive than the GP’s doing it).

Unfortunately, until we’re back in the UK, there’s nothing I can do to make the enquiries!!

@TheGlitterFairy, thank you. I’m still good. A few possible early symptoms on top of the crampy aches I was having the other day. Fingers crossed for your next cycle x

Currently waiting for a car to collect us to go to the clinic for a blood test - we might know today if we’ve been successful but, if not today, then we’ll have a blood test back home on Monday. It’s suddenly feeling very real this morning!!

Tomorrow we have an early departure from the hotel at 6:30am to be at the airport for a 9:30 flight back to the UK via Istanbul.

Hello @Lipsticktraces, sorry for not updating earlier; Wednesday took a bit of getting my head round and we’ve been on the road for the last 2 days to get home to Cornwall from Cyprus!!

My beta hCG level on Wednesday was 99 so I’m officially pregnant and consultant thinks it could be more than one due to levels being very high for 7dp5dt. We are going to our GP for more bloods on Tuesday, Thursday and the following Monday then I need to sort out getting a scan in 2 1/2 weeks time which could be fun as we will be in Bermuda!!
