Accupuncture

Hi, one of my pregnant friends (who struggled to get pregnant) has recently recommended accupuncture to me. I’ve never investigated it and to be perfectly honest always thought it was an alternative therapy with no evidence base, however i’m very happy to be informed otherwise. My friend credits her pregnancy to this as was advised she would need IVF otherwise. Has anyone tried accupuncture? Did anyone have any success? Particularly with PCOS?

Look at the work of Dr George Nduke who is an amazing Dr who has done pioneering work within IVF .

He is a fantastic human being with lots of evidence based research into this.

I'm in the middle of a cycle at the moment and have been having acupuncture. Not sure if it'll work yet obviously but it does relax me!
I'm not usually into stuff like this, and I did a fair amount of research which essentially said it might help, it might not. But I felt that for the sake of around £200 it was worth doing, and I want to come out of this cycle, regardless of the outcome, knowing I have done everything I possibly can to make it a success.

I've recently started acupuncture. Thought it was worth a try!

That’s really helpful, thank you. I’ve been doing some research tonight and it definitely seems worthwhile to ‘give it a go’, although the cost does make me hesitate!

Didn’t have PCOS but very irregular periods for years. Rarely ovulated and high FSH. IVF failed twice as didn’t produce enough follicles. Told by consultant that I wouldn’t ever get pregnant.

Tried acupuncture after a friend recommended a practitioner who had cleared her migraines. Went approximately two weekly. Periods became regular for the first time in years after about 3 months of treatment. Fell pregnant about a year after we were told we’d never have children (I was 35.)

I am absolutely convinced the acupuncture worked.

Find a reputable practitioner who is registered with the acupuncture council.

Have hope, try to relax and good luck!

Think it all depends how stressed out you are and your general health and belief. I tried acupuncture in my first cycle, didn't find it relaxing at all (but then the acupuncturist did say that I was very well aligned and little blockages) and ended up with not a great amount of follies and no blasts. My second cycle I didn't have any sessions, still very chilled about my cycle and ended up with over double the first round and all mature eggs and 4 top class blasts on ice.
I think it benefits some and not others, give it a go and it may work for you
