Menopur and ohss

I have been in menopur for the last 10 days to help me ovulate (not for ivf or iui). I have just had a scan that shows I have completely over hyper stimulated. Has anyone experienced this before? Does anyone know if it has long term affects? I have been told we have to cancel this cycle and that I need to watch out for side effects that could result in me ending up in hospital. Any info would be appreciated.

Hi. What was your menopur dose? What made the hospital say you have hyperstimulation? Did they say it was mild, moderate? I’m suffering from that right now but will need a bit more info to understand your situation. Don’t want to scare you but you should be armed with information to look out for symptoms and to know when you need to act.

Normally once you come off all drugs and your ovaries calm down hyperstimulation goes away on its own.

Hi, sorry to hear it has happened to you too. 4 days ago I had 1 follicle at size 10 and today I now have around 10 follicles ranging between sizes 10-21. I have been on 75 of the menopur x

Happened to me. I ended up with over 30 follicles, 28 that they could manage to extract and 24 eggs. I can remember begging them to stop the egg collection half way through! I only got it mild and my cycle continued. I'm now 17 weeks and it was a very uncomfortable first 12 weeks as everywhere was so swollen and bruised. My worst symptoms were general upset stomach, vomiting (prescribed anti sickness tablets) and swollen ovaries so bad I couldn't sit down! Looking back I was very well looked after by the clinic and it wasn't too bad at all.

Sorry Piglet. Just read you said not for IVF which mine was. Either way, keep an eye out for feeling unwell, you'll be well looked after if anything were to happen. Good luck to you.

Hope you feel better @piglet how swollen or full does your abdomen or the area around your ovaries feel? Since you’re off all meds now hopefully you should feel enough soon. It quickly resolves itself unless you continue on the meds or get pregnant.
