Hi all,

Just wondering why clinics screen for previous sexual abuse? Would it ever be a barrier to receiving IVF?

I can't remember them asking (have been to 2 UK clinics) ... I wonder if some ask in case a woman might find some of the intimate procedures triggering.
I can't imagine it being a barrier but maybe they would offer counselling?
💐 for anyone this applies to.

I don't think they asked.....

If your clinic is asking all I can think is they want to offer support - it's fairly invasive for your bits!! Maybe they want to check you cope with all the strangers poking around down there ok?

I think it is on the welfare of the child form. I think the abuse would not stop the abused from treatment, but the clinic would have to check what involvement there was with the abuser (if a close family member) to ensure the child is safeguarded.

Ah ok, that makes sense. Thank you.
