Hi ladies I’ve posted a few times on here for advice
I’ve my letter confirming our appointment with the gynaecologist in the hospital ( had sperm Analysis bloods and I’ve had an internal scan) mine came back fine but oh sperm tests was very bad all round, Doctor has now referred us to gynaecologist together.
What can I expect from the appointment? We are hoping to be referred for ivf as I already know from researching it is what we will need with hubbys sperm count. But on the letter it says gynaecologist is a woman’s department I have asked my gp but he said it is for both and they will investigate both of u. Is this how all you ladies started off before ivf?

It's the standard route. Your husband may or may not be referred to urology for separate investigations, but often sperm issues have no discernible cause.

They'll ask you a lot of questions and might arrange for more tests. It's generally a long road to ivf even from referral. Most ccg require at least two (if not three) years of unsuccessful ttc before funding ivf (along with other criteria).

What happens next is very individualised so not many people will have the exact same things happen next...

We’ve been ttc for 7 years so thought we shouldn’t have to wait much long then a year or two if there’s a waiting list I’m hoping, I’ve rang the hospital and they said their department will be where we will both have testing was just wondering standard wait times and how long and what tests are normally done beforehand being referred to ivf x thanks for your reply
