Urgent!! How full does semen analysis pot need to be

DH just produced sample and the pot is practically empty. We withheld for a week. He said it was difficult but he didn't miss any he just wasn't that excited so there wasn't much. Does anyone have a rough idea how full the pot needs to be???

I think the volume is one of the things that they assess? You get a volume on the report.

In my experience of lab work you give out a bigger pot than expected sample. They can always ask for a second sample.

@SnuggyBuggy I'd say the pot would be just about 10% full so way bigger than what DH managed. We've waited 5 months for this appointment I'm so worried it's not enough! Now a frantic hour and a half drive with the pot in my armpit

The pot always looks empty - they should have told you this when they handed the pot over!

When my DH had an analysis I was also a little surprised at how empty the pot looked, but they managed to test it.

I wouldn't worry. I've collected these pots and 10% was normal.

My DH was told that you needed to abstain for only 3-4 days and that he had to get the sample to them within an hour or so it at the clinic

@cactws sorry if this isn’t what you want to hear but I thought the semen had to be delivered for testing within an hour of producing the sample otherwise the sample is void? We have gone through 4 semen samples and they have told us this every time?

It was 2 hours where I worked. We always asked for the time the sample was taken and that is taken into account for the analysis.

We had to do it in a room at the clinic!
