How to prepare for FET if embryos stored abroad
wolves2081 · 15/10/2018 09:43
Hi
I just wanted to ask if anyone has had the experience of preparing for a FET if they have embryos stored abroad. My consultant abroad where I had my first IVF Fresh cycle has issued instructions and prescription to use in preparation. Could i use my local GP service to get the medication and monitoring here in UK. I will only travel abroad for the transfer. As i have 2 little ones i cant leave them. Grateful for advice or anyone in similar situation.

Your GP won't provide the medication: essentially you have a private prescription and can get the medication (I'm presuming progynova and cyclogest?) from any pharmacy, although you may have to wait for them to order it in. Make sure you leave plenty of time from ordering it until when you actually need it.

If you need to be monitored then your clinic needs to arrange this with a UK clinic or private hospital. The prescription is fairly easy, monitoring isn’t.

Yes I did this twice
I was lucky. My gp did my my drugs on prescription - tho have since learnt they aren’t meant to as we were private
But the clinic can give you a prescription and you order online or just buy
As above assume it’s - progynova and cyclogest
Then once period starts inform clinic. They will tell you dose to have think mine was 4mg for 3 days then went to 6mg
All in 2mg tablets so take 2/3 times a day
Then get scanned around day 10/12 and they send results to clinic and think take pesseries 7days before fef
Which is usually day 19/20 of cycle

Thank you ladies for the reply. Do you know any clinics in london who can do scan before i travel abroad for the last scan and transfer. I need to have my first scan and blood test here before i travel abroad. Purely as kids will be in school and minimising disruption at home

I think any clinic will be happy to scan. Obv just book an app and pay
But they will need to send results to fet clinic so why can see the thickness and ideally triple layer
Think mine was £60 a scan
