So we’ve been ttc for over a year now, my partner already has a child, we’ve been sent for tests... I’ve had bloods done, they came back all fine, partner went for a sperm test, that came back low. So we’ve been referred to the gynaecologist, that’s in a couple of weeks, I have no idea what to expect? So just wondered if anyone could help me out if they have been?

Your man needs to attend this appointment with you, also such appointments can cause considerable nerves and moral support for each other is good. I would write down all and any questions you both want to ask well ahead of time, no question is daft.

They will ask about your medical histories. They will want to retest both of you; one semen analysis for instance is not fully conclusive. Do make sure that both of you fully understand why tests are being done too.

They might suggest lifestyle changes too (especially to improve sperm). There's a lot he can do to make that a bit better!!

Hi
We are in similar boat. First appointment was really good actually- they went over our results and explained everything. My DH was examined and given a blood test. Other than that they advised in supplements DH could take to help sperm and spoke to me about getting my BMI down a bit. Next step for us is private IVF so we are talking to clinics and getting plans in place for treatment

For supplements for male fertility, research suggests CoQ10 may be supportive. Here is some background info: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3800531/
When you visit the doctor this next time, you can review all supplements for safety and effectiveness with him/her.

My DH was told to take proxeed plus which he did for one month but they are so expensive! We found a Superdrug version which are half the price and apparently don't taste as bad but seem to have all the same stuff in
