AMH levels

Hi. Does anyone know anything about AMH levels? I was told by my consultant that mine was 13.2 and that this was alright for my age of 31, as even though it's below average for my age it was "within the normal range". We have severe male factor infertility which means likelihood is eventually donor sperm - so I think I've felt a lot of pressure to have really good results for myself and now feel so worried about this AMH level - even though the consultant wasn't seeming to be concerned himself. Finding all the tests so stressful and invasive. All my other tests are apparently fine. Thanks in advance.

That sounds like a good result to me! But they should be looking at it in conjunction with an antral follicle count and FSH levelts too for the full picture. Have you had those done too? My FSH was 'normal' but follicle count was low (5) so they recommended having the AMH test which came back at 5.9 which was low. So I think i would want to know all 3 but if they say all your other tests have been fine then it sounds like everything is coming under the normal range and you can relax!

I would agree with PhoebeMouse, your AMH is at a reasonable level for your age range. Even with much lower AMH levels, people are able to have successful ivf/ICSI cycles; it’s just a matter of adjusting the stimulation drugs. You’re young and healthy, I really wouldn’t worry about it.
Also worth knowing that although AMH give you an idea of your ovarian reserve, it’s not indicative of egg quality.
Have a read of this website, I found it quite helpful.

Thanks @PhoebeMouse I've had the LH and fsh, can't remember the value but it was normal range. The only thing I haven't had is the antra follicle count - is that what they look for when you have the internal ultrasound? That's the only thing I'm waiting for. Thanks for the link @Dia12 that explains it really well and does put my mind at rest abit. Everyone's so helpful on here honestly thanks so much x

Yes that’s right, they will tell you there and then at the scan. I hope it goes well - it sounds like everything is looking positive!
