Hi. I'm on my first round of ICSI IVF and I am 5 days away from the official test date they gave me. So right now I'm 8 days post a 5 day embryo transfer. The doctors said wait until day 14 to test but couldn't help myself as some online forums say they tested earlier. I have a v faint 2nd line and just really wanted opinions. Could this turn into a bolder line as the next 5 days go on or should I prepare myself for the worst ? We have been TTC for 16 months .

It could. It could also fail. Wait until day 14 and your beta. Fingers crossed for you!

That's defo a line OP.

Congrats!

I thought the reason they tell you not to test early is because they give you a HCG trigger shot which will cause a positive reading on the test regardless of whether you're successfully pregnant? Fingers crossed for you though OP.

Could there still be traces left from your trigger shot? This is why they usually say not to test too soon. I hope it’s a real positive for you. I have an ICSI baby and waited until I had the blood test to confirm. I was too nervous to test myself!

Good luck.

They havent said anything about a blood test we just got told to do a home test day 14. My trigger was 15 days ago and contained HCG but apparently that is out your system 10 days plus so it shouldn't be down to that..ill keep testing every day between now and Friday eeek

There is an outside chance that it could be trigger but I think it's more likely that you are pregnant.

The literature for the trigger I used says it should be out of your system within 10 days, everybody's different though. Most people seem to find the trigger is gone from their system in less than 10 days, but on both my non-pregnancy cycles I was still testing positive 14 days after taking the trigger shot.

In your position I would be cautiously optimistic. Fingers crossed the line gets stronger over the next few days!

Hiya So I did a clear blue and a test strip test this morning using the first urine this time and I got faint line on both . See photos !!! V excited now as I'm sure this can't be my trigger shot as that was 16 days ago now.

Here's the pic. What do we think ?

It is indeed a line. Try and protect your self mentally as sometimes the line gets fainter again if it doesn't stick.
Now you've started testing I wouldn't be able to stop myself testing ever day either.
I hope your line continues to get stronger!

Definitely pregnant! I tested out my trigger which was about 10 days from the shot and got a bfp at 9dp3dt. So I think you can feel confident it's a bfp! X

Thanks ladies. I'll try not to test til friday now . Only 4 sleeps. And pray it sticks xx

Yeeeeeeeesssssssssssss!

Kaznet · 05/10/2018 05:26

So glad you let us know. I think paracetamol is ok but check. Definitely not ibuprofen

Spam88 · 05/10/2018 07:16

Ah congratulations OP! So glad it was a real positive :)

Paracetamol is fine to take. Being ill isn't dangerous for the baby, just take it easy and make sure you're drinking plenty of water. Your immune system is a bit rubbish in pregnancy so it might hit you a bit harder than a cold normally would.

trevthecat · 05/10/2018 08:00

Congratulations! You can take paracetamol if your poorly/in pain x
