Having had a BFP after IVF. I then had a MMC at 9 weeks. I had to wait and see if the miscarriage would happen naturally, which it did after a week.
Last week I went back to the EPU to see if everything had come out. The nurse doing the scan said that I still had some retained products but not enough to need surgery, but that she suspected I had a fibroid in my uterus that might have affected my ability to conceive and explain the miscarriage.
She didn't actually explain any of this, so I have had to google a lot and I can't make much sense of it. As everyone going through IVF knows, you have a lot of scans, so surely if there had been a fibroid there all along it would have been picked up? Plus the problem was MFI, but the nurse seemed so sure it was the fibroid that caused all the problems.
I've also got my follow up appointment through, except they've sent me two - one from the EPU and one from the X-ray department (who also do ultrasounds). I've called up both departments and asked why I need to go and they just tell me I do and each department told me to speak to the other. So it looks like I'm going to have to go to the hospital twice as nobody can tell me where I should be.
Has anyone else experienced this at all? I don't really understand why I need scans in both X-ray and EPU, how the IVF clinic could potentially miss a fibroid that affects fertility, and even if it is a fibroid what exactly can be done about it. We started TTC about four years ago so if it's affected that all this time surely it would've been picked up before now?
