Just starting our IVF journey, no medical reason found for infertility / been trying for 3 years. Do the IVF drugs make you gain weight? I know right now it's the least of my worries, just curious as I've heard they make you gain weight and a nightmare to live with .... oh lucky husband ! Any advice wise Mumsneters ?

I found I got bloated with mine, but I went back to normal afterwards. Good luck!

A bit of bloating and weight gain. But I was lucky it worked and as I put on a bit of weight in early pregnancy so didn’t really matter about the ivf bit!

Hey @pomlife i haven't gained any weight but am pretty bloated. I was a bit emotional for the first few days of shots but that died down quite quickly. I think some people react more than others so i guess it depends how easily you gain weight and get emotional normally? I'm not sure that's correct though.. that's my experience of approximately 3 people so not exactly representative..

Gentle nudge to give yourself a break, its a perfectly reasonable question to ask - who cares if it's a first world problem! (that's coming from someone in the aid sector!) It sounds like you've had a really tough time of it, so wishing you the best of luck and take care of yourself. 😊

@CatRen27 thank you. Yes tough time and tougher journey ahead. Not one for gaining weight, but train 6 days so aware that might come to an abrupt halt and might impact. Petrified about the whole journey tbh. Not even sure I'll be able to give myself a shot .....

That might affect you but probably means you'll feel alright if you're fit and healthy. The injections are a bit of a learning curve, for me they only lasted 9 days and then moved to egg collection so it's not long in the scheme of things. It's a crazy process, but moves pretty quickly and the level of care and information has been amazing.

I'm finding the waiting is difficult. I am on 1 day post egg collection and its so hard not to will the days away to see how many get to 5 days etc... crazy. When do you think you'll start?

I got bloated, and my boobs became swollen but a month or so later then I went back to my regular size

I went from 10st 1lb to 10st 5lb but went back down once all the meds were out my system
